Am was heading back with Erica, then a tail was sticking out. Am moved in and saw an Eevee girl.
"Heather, is that you?" Am gasped.
The Eevee girl nodded.
"Heahter, it's so good to see you again!" Erica added.
Heather nodded with a big smile on her face. She started following Am and Erica back to the base. Linda saw the Eevee girl and went up to her.
"Hey there," she said.
Heather took a step back.
"Hey, why isn't she talking?" Linda asked.
"She's mute," Am answered, "meaning she can't talk."
"I've delt with mew mews who are mute, blind and deaf," Linda added, "Heather, would you like to stay here?"
Heather nodded to answer her. She is the same age as Am despite being three months younger.
Mya however was further away as she watched the river flow. She saw a fish swimming nearby and Mya got her claws out to get at it. But before she could get to the fish, Mya's knee slipped, letting lose some wet slimy ground and landed face first in the water. Her head dress flew right off as she fell.
"Help!" she cried.
She tried to grab on some ground with her claws to get out of the water, but the current of the river pulled her right back in.
"Am, Erica!" Mya called out.
"Mya!" Am gasped as she saw her little sister being swept downstream.
Then a figure appeared on the other side of the river. Am recognized her as Lora as the Vaporeon mew mew plunged into the water. Her shoes were still on her feet, but kept swimming to Mya. She got a grip on Mya by her tail and gently pulled until she has her arm around her stomach. The current couldn't drag Lora away since she has special shoes on. Lora swam to shore and her shoes were specially made for swimming. She didn't slip on the rocks and pebbles that were under the shoreline. Am raced up to Lora.
"What happened?" she asked.
"She must of fell in," Lora answered, "but good thing I saw her or she would of drowned."
"Mya!"
A frantic shout came from behind Am. Erica saw Mya in Lora's arm.
"Lora saved her," Am told her.
Lora nodded, still letting the water drip from her blue hair.
"Well, Erica, I did see her try to catch a fish, but the edge of the river must of been too slippery," she said.
"Thank you for saving Mya, Lora," Erica pleaded the Vaporeon girl.
Lora nodded.
"I better get my clothes washed now," she added.
Heather, not too far away let out a gasp and ran up to Am and Erica. She saw Mya lying on the ground and try to push on her back to get the water out of her lungs. Mya coughed out some water. Her eyes opened and saw that she was all wet.
"Are you okay, Mya?" Am asked.
Mya nodded.
"That was scary..." she wailed.
Heather tapped her shoulder to get her to look.
"Heather?" Mya rasped.
The Eevee girl smiled.
"Lora had to swim to save you," Am put in, "You should thank her when you see her."
Mya felt like her head dress was missing. Erica picked it up on the way here when Lora swam here.
"Here, Mya," Erica said, lending the head dress over to Mya.
"Thank you, Erica," Mya purred.
"We need to take you inside and dry you off," Am pointed out, "You're all wet."
Mya shook the water off her head like a kitten. Heather flinched to prevent getting water on her. Mya followed Am back to the base and get changed to put on dry clothes. Mya shivered as she entered her room. Am got her a dry pair of clothes and Mya went in her room to change. Am wondered if Heather would like living here too? They're going to need a lot of extensions to the base and more members are rallying up left and right.
"That was scary..." Mya wailed as she exit her room into Am's, "I wish I could swim as good as Lora..."
"Someday you will, Mya," Am replied, "I'm glad Lora saved you today. That current was too strong for you to grab onto something with your claws anyway."
