When I woke up, I seen Kaname with his wallet out and almost arguing with Elaine, but she brushed him off.
"Your highness, I appreciate your jester but I don't want your money. I consider it an honor to have helped you and your husband. And I'll keep everything confidential, or may I lose everything I own." She told him, a look on her face that wouldn't want to challenged.
"I understand, but this is just my way of showing gratitude to you. This was very important, and please, call me Kaname."
"Kaname?" I said hoarsely. My stomach was sore, but I could tell that it was already healing due to my immortality. Kaname looked over at me immediately, and rushed over to my side.
"Zero, how are you feeling? Are you hurting? Thirsty? Anything you need, I will have for you in minutes." He rambled out, but I chuckled as much as I could stand.
"I'm fine, but where is he? Is he okay?" I asked, referring to my baby. He smiled at me before standing up and walking to a crib in the corner of the room. He picked the bundle of blankets up gently and turned around to face me. He walked back over to the bed.
"He's actually a She, and she's absolutely perfect." He said, handing her off to me. She was beautiful, and I instantly felt as if nothing else in the entire world mattered more than this little girl that was in my arms. "We've gotta name her though."
"Well, that's going to be a lot harder now. I was expecting a boy." I joked, and he smiled again, but this time it was different. It wasn't just one that he smiled when he was amused, or in a good mood. It was like he was glowing or something, kinda weird really.
"How are you feeling, really?" Kaname asked me, gently caressing the baby girl in my arms.
"When can we go home? I'm ready to get out of this bed." I told him, and he nodded. Before I knew it, we were home. Days passed by like nothing, but all I wanted was some sleep. We still hadn't named her, but she liked to sleep during the times I was awake and stay awake when I was asleep. I was holding her while pacing around the room, looking out through our balcony door to see the town below me. It was peaceful, it was beautiful. I looked down at the baby in my arms, looking up at me with those beautiful little eyes.
"You're such a little Bella." I said with a French accent. She smiled and made a gurgling noise. "You like being called Bella?" I asked her, knowing she couldn't understand me. She made another noise, and smiled at me like she had gas, but I just smiled back at her. "Fine. Little Bella." I said to no one, seeing as how I was alone. I rocked her in my arms until she fell asleep and then I gently and carefully put her in her crib so she could sleep.
I quietly sighed in relief, not that I didn't love her to death, I was just exhausted. As soon as I had sighed, my phone began ringing full volume. I ran to it and clicked it off, thanking every greater power that Bella didn't wake up. Not long after, the door opened and I immediately put my finger to my lips to silence them.
"Zero, I heard that you had a baby." She stated quietly, poking her tongue out in a playful manner.
"She's right here." I whispered, pointing at the crib. Yuki immediately showed excitement and ran over to it, quietly of course, and began cooing. She gushed over her before composing herself and walking over to me. "Let's step outside?" I asked so that we wouldn't have to worry about waking Bella.
"Zero, I am so absolutely in love with that little girl already." Yuki nearly jumped up and down.
"Bella." I corrected, and her eyes lit up even brighter. "I still have to tell Kaname that I've decided to name her without asking him, but I'm sure he'll understand." I chuckled.
"Are you okay with a girl? I know you really wanted a boy, and I think Kana did too." She said, and I leaned against the wall before shrugging.
"I thought I wanted a boy, but hell I'd probably have been okay with anything as long as they were safe, healthy, and mine. As soon as I seen her, it was like something changed in me and I was a different person. I can still see Kaname's face when he looked at Bella, he was so happy and relaxed, so different than what he normally is."
"He has been really stressed out lately, but mostly because of you. He's been worrying about something going wrong, or you not wanting to go through with it. He's just really insecure about things now." Yuki told me, surprising me with what she said. Kaname being insecure? That was like me not being sarcastic, impossible.
"Hey, Zero, Yuki! You two have been requested in the conference hall." A maid said. "Don't worry, I'll look after Bella for you until you get back." She said, and I hesitated. Yuki pushed me down the hallway and we walked to the conference hall where Kaname and his parents were sitting at a large table.
"Zero, dear, how lovely to see you! How are you feeling?" Kaname's mother asked me. She was still beautiful for being older.
"I'm wonderful, how are you?"
"I'll be better when I get to see that granddaughter of mine!" She joked. "And I'm waiting on a name, too." She winked.
"I've actually named her without consulting Kaname. Please don't be mad dear, it was a spur of the moment." I smiled sheepishly at him, and he smiled back at me while playfully rolling his eyes.
"And what did you name our little angel?" Kaname asked me while taking my hand in his and looking up at me. He was relaxed, leaned against the back of the chair instead of completely upright.
"Bella." I said nervously. I was worried he would hate it, despise it, yell at me for not asking.
"It's perfect."
"I love it! But right now, we have to discuss business." Kaname's father said. "Since you have gotten over your 'poisoning' as we told the public, the time has come for you to succeed me and become king." He said mightily.
"But-"
"Kaname-" his mother tried to stop him.
"No, he needs to know this now. Not after he does this without being given the option." Kaname said with pain in his voice.
"What is it?" I asked, confused about what they were talking about.
"Some people figured out how to reverse the change. They could make you human again." Kaname's father said.
"Would that be something you would want to do?" Kaname asked, obviously knowing the answer.
"Of course it is! I would give anything to be human again." I said without hesitation. Kaname ran a hand over his face, leaving it over his eyes for a moment before removing it and nodding.
"It's settled then." He said. He got up from his chair and excused himself from the room.
"What's his problem?" Yuki asked. She seemed just as shocked as I was about his drastic mood change just by the subject change in conversation.
"If Zero becomes human again, the marriage becomes nullified and Kaname will lose the right to the throne." Kaname's father informed us. I sat there for a while, even after everyone else had left the room as well. I curled up in the chair and let my exhaustion get the best of me.
