Haeun's POV
I feel the heat from my surroundings suffocate me as I walk along the empty road. It's still quite early in the morning, the sun barely beginning to rise when I decide to leave my apartment. Yet the heat already feels close to unbearable. The streets are practically deserted, with just the occasional car passing by me. But not once did I come across another person walking along the sidewalk.
It's been a week since the birthday incident. In such a short time, I've already fully forgiven you. Honestly, I'm never able to stay mad at you for long.
I admire the flowers in bloom along the roadside as I make my way towards my destination. I let my hands run through the pink flowers growing from the bushes. Even so early in the morning, with everything around me seeming to be unsaturated and dreary, these flowers are like a vibrant splash of pink paint on an otherwise monotone canvas.
My feet come to a stop when I reach this empty patch of land beside the lake, the spot covered with rocks and hidden by the surrounding trees. Trees so tall that they tower over me. But on the other side of the massive lake there are no trees to be seen, making the horizon so clear. Where the sky directly kisses the water, no land to separate the two. A perfectly straight line.
I like to consider this magical place "our" spot. There isn't much to it, but the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Simplicity truly was beauty. People rarely, if ever, venture out to this place as well. As if this spot is unknown to the rest of the world. As if the sole purpose of its creation is for us and us alone. Just thinking like this makes this place seem that much more special to me.
Because this used to just be your spot. And I had the honor of having you bring me here.
You brought me here on our first anniversary.
And with those memories, I brought you here on our second.
And so it's just tradition to come here. A tradition I hope never to break.
I place the blanket I brought onto the floor and sit myself down. I stare off into the depths of the water as I wait for you to come. It's stunning, with just the calm flowing of the water, disturbed only by the occasional ripple. It makes me excited for when the sun sets, to see those colors cascade over this entire body of water. Seeing the sun set on the perfectly clear horizon.
I begin to feel the warmth again, making me sleepy. Knowing you aren't going to be here for a while, I lie down onto the blanket to make myself comfortable.
I close my eyes...
--
"Haeun aren't you cold?" I looked around to see that the sun was nowhere in sight, the clouds dominating the sky. The sky appeared so distorted, seeing tints of random colors all across the millions of clouds in the sky. Honestly, it made everything look even more beautiful.
"It's only a bit chilly. I'm fine though." I glanced over to you and saw that you were already in the middle of taking off your jacket halfway through my response. I smiled as you wrapped it around my shoulders and pulled me closer to your body.
