Newt's POV
I was finally finishing up in New York when I felt someone's presence. "Well I'll be damned." I heard a familiar voice. I looked up and met a pair of familiar blue eyes. "Natalie?" I questioned. "I'm surprised you remember me at all." She said smiling at me. "How could I forget you."

flashback

I was in the headmaster's office and I held my head in my hands. "I'm really suspended?" I asked. "Yes Mr. Scamander. We can't have you setting these magical beasts off around the school anymore so I'm going to have to ask you to leave. I nodded and walked out of his office and into my quarters and packed all my things and made my way to the Hogwarts Express. "Newt! Newt!" I heard a voice shout. I turned around and Natalie jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly. I had to catch myself from falling and I hugged her back. "You were going to leave without saying goodbye to your best friend." She said frowning at me. I blushed as I heard her voice and met her blue eyes. "I thought I would've cried if it was the last time I saw you." I told her. "Well I have some gifts for you that I was planning for your birthday, but since you'll be gone I thought I would give them to you now." She said. I looked in her hands and noticed a suitcase. "I put a very large extension charm on it so you can fit all of your creatures inside and if muggles need to check it when they travel just click this switch." She said pointing to a small gold switch that had the words muggle worthy engraved in it. It made me smile. "And this little guy is to start off your collection. His name is Pickett." She said extending her hand and I noticed a small bowtruckle resting on her finger. She somehow got him off her hand and rested him on my own and he looked up at me. "Thank you so much Natalie." I whispered looking at her. She had tears in her eyes and I frowned. "Next time I see you, I want you to show me all the creatures you'll have in that case." She told me. "I will." I agreed. She hugged me one last time and I didn't want to let go. I felt something warm on my cheek and blushed as I realized it was Natalie's lips. "I'll see you later Newt." She whispered before apparating away. I placed my hand on my cheek and smiled.

She smiled as she heard the words escape my mouth and I smiled back. "It's been a while since I've seen that cute smile of yours." She told me. I blushed and she let out a melodic chuckle. "How about you come over to my apartment for dinner?" She asked giving me her famous puppy dog eyes that I use to never be able to say no to. "I can't say no to your puppy eyes." I replied. She grabbed my hand and lead me down an empty alley and grabbed her wand. We spun around for a moment and then we were transported into a smaller cozy living area. "Make yourself comfortable." She said waving her wand and making dinner in an instant with magic. She handed me a teacup and it started to magically fill with a warm amber liquid. "Ambrosia tea. Still my favorite after all these years. I'm hoping it's still yours too." She told me plating the food. "You never seemed to forget anything do you?" I asked her playfully. She smiled and I sat in front of the plate she set down on the table for me and she sat in front of me. "So Newt how did you find your way to America?" She asked. "Well I originally came to travel to Arizona to drop off a Thunderbird that I call Frank. And then me and a muggle got into a mix up with my suitcase and released some of the beasts and then we had to defeat Gridlewald." I shortened the story. Her eyes widened and she smiled. "I never thought that the case I would give you would get in the wrong hands, but I'm glad you got it back. My father wanted you to have it." She explained, but paused as she mentioned her father. "I knew this suitcase looked familiar, it was your father's. Why would you give me the only thing that you had from your father?" I questioned. "He always said that he thought of you as a future son-in-law which made me embarrassed, but I thought he would've wanted you to have and you've definitely put it to more use than I would've." I smiled thoughtfully and grabbed her hand gently. "I promised you all those years ago that when you saw me again I would show you all of my creatures and it's about feeding time." I smirked. She looked at me mischievously and I placed my case down on the ground and opened it. I climbed into it and shook off the dust from the small closet space. "Jump down and I'll catch you." I yelled. I heard her curse and I held back a small chuckle and then Natalie was in my arms her body pressed against my own. "Well that could've gone smoother." She remarked blushing a bright red. I took her hand and grabbed a few buckets of food and handed them to her. "I think your favorites was the Occamy?" I asked heading towards their nest. She nodded rapidly and quickly caught up to me as she noticed their little enclosure. "They were always so pretty, I remember when my father let me keep one because I had grown so attached to him. I never knew what my step mother did with Siren after I had been sent to America in the name of the Ministry." She said grabbing some food from the bucket and letting the Occamys eat it out of her hand. "Wait did your step mother have platinum hair and dark green eyes. And did she wear-" She cut me off by laughing. "Bright red lipstick and blue eye shadow. Yes that's her." She finished for me. I broke out into laughter with her and met her eyes. "Well it turns out Siren is a girl and these are her hatchlings." I told her which made her eyes widen. "Well I guess that makes me a grandma." She laughed. "Well that's not as bad as being a mama. Or that's at least what I refer to myself now." I explained. "Wow, Mama Newt has a nice ring to it. Anyway what ever happened to Pickett?" She asked. "He's right here." She watched as Pickett shyly crawled out of my sleeve and onto my palm. "Wow he's grown to be a handsome little fellow." She admired. Pickett branched off of my arm and onto Natalie's nose and looked at her blue eyes. "Yes that is Natalie, Pickett." I told him as he looked back at me for conformation. "I'm glad he recognizes me." She whispered using her finger to move him back over to me. "Natalie I know this is kind of sudden since we just reconnected, but I really...what I'm trying to say...God I'm really messing this up. I love you Natalie, I have since fourth year and that kiss on the boarding platform only made my feelings stronger." I stuttered out. She smirked and placed her hands on my shoulders and I blushed at the sudden contact. "It took you long enough, but I guess that's what I get for letting you make the first move, but I'll be the one to make the second." She said before pressing her lips against mine. I took no time in returning it and I dropped the buckets in my hands to cup her face and deepen the kiss. When we separated I could tell my face was a bright crimson color. "That was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. It was-" She tried to find a word to describe the kiss. "Perfect?" I asked. "Perfect indeed." She whispered pressing her lips against mine once more.
