Sam's POV
I was hanging out at Natalie's house. It was her tenth birthday party and we were best friends. Me and her had been friends since we were six and haven't left each other alone. "Happy birthday Natalie!" I shouted happily making her smile. "Thanks Sammy. C'mon it's time for cake." She said grabbing my hand which made my stomach turn, butterflies no doubt.Me and Natalie were in the front office of highschool, both fifteen and already got into a fight. "He started it and I had to defend Sammy, sorry Dean." Natalie apologized to my older brother who had to come pick us up since her dad was busy with work. "It's fine just don't let it happen again." Dean told her. She looked at me and gave me a small smile which made me blush. She didn't have to help, but I probably needed it. She's always been there.
Me and Natalie had our arms wrapped around each other. She and her dad were moving to Seattle, said something about business. "Promise to Skype me every night you can?" I asked tears threatening to fall down my cheeks. "I promise." She whispered letting go of me. Dean hugged her goodbye and we watched her get into the car and pull away. "Don't worry Sammy, she'll be alright. Plus we need to start training again." Dean told me.
Natalie's POV
I climbed onto my bed and turned on my laptop. A Skype call from Sam and I smiled. We both kept in good touch for the past couple of years since college and I put on our song. When I answered the call and he heard the chorus of the night we met, he started to laugh. "So how was your day Sam?" I asked grabbing my notebook and sketching his face. I was currently majoring in art and Sam was usually my model. "It was fine, exams are coming up so I'm a little stressed how about you?" He replied. "It was okay had to take my final exam over here thank God." I told him and I could hear a door open from his dorm room and I saw his girlfriend walk in. Sure it hurt to see that my life long crush had a girlfriend but I was happy for him. "Oh you're talking to Natalie again." She said. She didn't sound like she was in a good mood. " Yeah, did you need to talk?" He asked turning around to look at her. She nodded and it looked like Sam went to click the mute button, but I could still hear him. "I get it Sam that she's been your best friend since you two were six, but I'm your girlfriend not her. You better stop talking to her after this if you want to stay with me. She's nothing, but an irrelevant whore." I froze at her words and could tell that Sam made no attempt to defend me. I paused the music and wiped away a tear. "Hey Sam I gotta go, I'll talk to you later." I said before ending the call and closing my laptop. I flopped backwards onto my bed and grabbed the red and black flannel that used to be his that he gave to me before I left. It still smelled like him which made the reality of the situation sting worse. I got a call and noticed Dean's caller idea. "Yeah Dean?"I ran away from the demon as it chased after me and then pulled out my gun and stopped to shoot it right in the head. It had been around two years since I last talked to Sam, Dean on the other hand had taken me in while I was in college and we fought monsters for a while until he started going with Sam. "Natalie, Sam had been asking for you. I'm sorry that I mentioned you." I heard Cas say from behind me. "Don't worry about it Cas. Here give him this." I said handing him a cassette tape. It was about time that I see him again.
Sam's POV
I paced the bunker waiting for Cas to return with some kind of news about Natalie. I've missed her more than anything since we haven't talked in two years. "Sam, Natalie asked me to give this to you." I heard Cas say. I turned around and snatched a cassette out of his hands and ran into my room where I had a cassette player. "Hey Sam it's me Natalie, been two years since we've heard each other's voices so I hope this is refreshing if you still care about me. I wanted to let you know I've loved you for a while and if you feel the same way about me come to the old boardwalk where we went to before I left. Maybe you'll see me there." I heard her voice say through my headphones and then I heard the night we met play and her singing ring out. It made me smile and I grabbed Dean's keys and walked out of the door.Natalie's POV
I sketched pictures of Sam and left them on posts leading to where I was sitting now. My iPod playing the night we met. The sun was starting to set and I was starting to lose hope. I looked at the last picture of Sam I would ever draw again and let it fly away with the wind. "NATALIE!" I heard a faint voice shout. I turned around to see Sam at the other end of the boardwalk with my drawing in his hand. It was like a cheesy movie, but we ran to each other and Sam picked me up in his arms and hugged me close to him. My face was hidden in the crook of his neck and felt him squeeze me gently. "I love you, I'm so sorry for what I let her say about you." He rambled. "How did you know about that?" I asked him. "Cas." We said in unison laughing. I felt tears slip down my cheeks, but Sam's hand was there to wipe them away. "I love you too Sammy." I whispered before pressing my lips against his.
