"Broken"

Nine

Shawn's POV:

Shawn: "wow. You look beautiful"

Alexa: "thank you.." she said smiling and looking down at the ground.

Shawn: "ready to get going?"

Alexa: "yeah! Let's do it.."

We began walking down her front steps and into my car. I opened the door for her, and handed her the rose before closing it.

Alexa: "thank you" she said before holding it up to her nose to smell it.

We got dinner at this new diner in town, and shared a strawberry milkshake. Once we finished, we decided to go back to my house to hang out since my parents were out of town and my sister was at a sleepover.

Shawn: "after you" I said opening my front door for her to come in.

We walked upstairs to my room, where we usually hang out when she comes over.

Alexa: "Shawn it has literally been so long since I've been here!" She said as she took a look around.

Shawn: "yeah it has. You live right across the street, you should really come over more often."

Alexa: "yeah...I feel like we don't really take advantage of that enough" she said laughing.

Shawn: "so...what do you wanna do?"

Alexa: "is talking okay?"

Shawn: "absolutely"

I was really hoping she would say that. Lately I've realized that Alexa pretty much knows everything about me, but there is still so much about her that I have yet to learn.

Shawn: "so... how are you? What's happened since 4pm?" I said jokingly

Alexa: "well, my mom came home..."

Shawn: "Ally! That's great! Why didn't you tell me?!"

Alexa: "it was a surprise for me too! I wasn't expecting her back for another three weeks."

I looked into her deep brown eyes, and could instantly get lost in them. I slowly began leaning in, and she did the same.

Alexa's POV:

He pressed his lips on mine, and in that moment, I felt as though everything that was missing in my life, everything that was empty, it was finally full.

The kiss lasted for a long time, and went from being a delicate, gentle one, to a passionate one that I didn't want to break. Ever.

We were sitting, facing each other on his bed. I placed one hand on his cheek, and the other on his chest as the kiss grew more and more passionate. In that moment, I forgot all about Damien. All about my scars and trauma from both him and my childhood. Everything was great, and for the first time in a very long time, I was happy.

His hands were resting on my thighs, and he slowly moved one of them up to my waist.  He gently slid his hand underneath the hem of my top, and it was just gently placed on my bare hip. Feeling his warm hands touch my skin sent this fiery electricity through my entire body, and I could tell he could feel it too. His grip tightened, and he was holding on to my waist much firmer now. Correction: in the same spot as my everlasting bruise.

Unable to contain the sharp stabbing pain that it was sending through my body, I broke the kiss

Alexa: "...ow..." I mumbled unintentionally

Shawn: "wh-what happened? Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?"

I stood up and looked at him. He looked at me with his big eyes, and he just looked concerned and hurt. The look he was giving me made my heart ache, and I felt so bad.

Alexa: "I'm sorry..." I said not knowing what else to say

Shawn: "Ally....if you don't like me in this way, please tell me...."

After those words left his mouth, I just couldn't hold it in anymore. For once, I'm actually happy with someone, and now he thinks I don't like him. I couldn't bare losing him, I have to tell him.

Alexa: "Shawn, I really really like you. We've only been on one date, and already you've been the one that I've had the most fun with, and that makes me the happiest. I do like you in that way, I really really do"

Shawn: "Alexa, you've just made me the happiest guy alive" he said smiling "but I can tell something is bothering you. You can trust me you know.."

I didn't know what to say, so I just lifted my shirt above my waist to show him the bruise on my hip.

Shawn: "oh my god Alexa" he said standing up and moving closer to me "what the hell happened to you!!??"

Alexa: "um, I fell?"

Shawn: "Ally, don't lie to me. If we don't have honesty, we don't have anything. Please just tell me, I'm here for you."

Alexa: "Damien..." I said in a very low voice

Shawn: "WHAT?!" He said standing up, fury rising in his face "HE HIT YOU!!??"

Alexa: "he pushed me onto the curb, then drove away...."

Shawn: "Ally..." he said coming closer and giving me a hug. "Why didn't you tell me?? I actually feel like such an idiot. I am right across the street, I should've seen or heard something....I should've done something....I'm so sorry Al.."

Alexa: "please don't apologize Shawn....."

Shawn: "Ally, answer me honestly, when I picked you up and spun you around at the championship game and it hurt you, you said you had a bruise, did he give you that one too?"

Alexa: "it's actually the same one...I don't know why it hasn't gone away. It's been months, and it's only getting worse. I don't understand, everything else is mostly healed..."

Shawn: "everything else?! What else did he do??!!"

I turned around and held up my hair to reveal the scar on the back of my neck.

I turned back around to see him covering his mouth with his hand, and his eyes were wet as he started at me with them opened wide.

Alexa: "it left a scar, but the wound itself healed completely..."

Shawn: "how...."

Alexa: "he threw me against the stairs because I broke up with him, and then refused to kiss him"

Shawn: "oh my god...didn't I come by that night...?"

Alexa: "yeah..."

Shawn: "did I get there before, or...."

Alexa: "after"

Shawn: "oh my god"
