"Broken"

Twenty Six

Alexa's POV:

I got a text from Shawn telling me to go to his house immediately. I ran across the street and began frantically knocking on the door. Aaliyah opened it and smiled when she saw me.

Alexa: "h-hi Aaliyah, um is-"

Aaliyah: "he's on his way" she said smiling, clearly understanding the urgency in my voice "we all got the same text, he says he's got 'big news' or whatever. Come in and wait with us" she said opening the door wider in order to let me through.

Alexa: "Hi Karen, hi Manny, how are you?" I said, greeting Shawn's parents as I walked in.

They came over and hugged me. We made small talk until Manny got a call from work he had to leave the room to answer, and Karen decided to go make some tea for everyone. Aaliyah and I talked for about twenty minutes until Shawn came bursting through the door causing both Manny and Karen to sprint back to the room to see what had happened.

Shawn's POV:

Shawn: "I JUST GOT SIGNED TO ISLAND RECORDS!" I announced, unable to contain even an ounce of the gallons of excitement soaring through my veins at this very moment.

My dad threw his hands in the air and ran towards me with the biggest smile on his face. My mom covered her mouth with her hands, also running towards me. Next thing I knew Alexa and Aaliyah had come up as well, and I found myself in the middle of a huge group hug, but I wasn't mad about it. In fact I was the farthest thing from mad. I don't think I've ever been this excited in my entire life.

My parents sat me down on the couch. They were sitting in front of me, and Alexa and Aaliyah were on either side of me.

Karen: "tell us everything! What happened?"

So I told them about how I recorded the ep today, then I did a cover shoot, and how I found out after that there was a rep from island records in the room who loved me and wanted to sign me. I then told them about how they want to release "Life of the Party" as a single.

Shawn: "island records is formally announcing tomorrow that 'Life of the Party' will be released as a single on the 26th of this month!"

Aaliyah: "no way! Are you serious!" She said excitedly

Karen: "oh my god!" She screamed. I've never heard my mother scream before, but the way her eyes were tearing up showed me how happy for me she really was.

Manny: "I knew you could do it son" he said, pulling me in for a hug.

Lastly, I turned to Alexa. She looked up at me with big, glossy eyes.

Alexa: "I'm so proud of you" she said before I pulled her in for a hug.
