Twenty Two

Alexa's POV:

He played me the rest of that song, which was called 'Life of the Party,' then he played me a song called 'Show You,' and the last song he played was called 'The Weight,' that one was my favorite.

Alexa: "wow. Shawn I have no words. This is what you are meant to do, your music will really speak to a lot of people."

Shawn: "Ally, that means so much more than you could ever know, thank you" he said smiling.

Alexa: "wait, but didn't you say that you were supposed to write four songs? You only played three..."

Shawn: "yeah, the fourth was called 'My Time.' It was the first song I wrote, but I just don't connect to it as much as the others. I can't expect my music to speak to others if it doesn't even speak to me."

Alexa: "so, any luck writing a replacement?"

Shawn: "yeah! I actually started writing it this morning!"

Alexa: "can I hear it?"

Shawn: "this afternoon, it's almost done and I want to make sure it's perfect before I play it for you."

Alexa: "okay" I agreed before heading into the kitchen to prepare us both breakfast.

That afternoon I was back home with my mom watching tv when I got a text from Shawn.

Shawn: I just finished the song!

Alexa: aaah! I'm coming! I'll be there in 10 seconds!

I told my mom that I was going over to Shawn's. I grabbed my phone, slid on my sneakers, and ran across the street.

He left the door unlocked so I just walked in and saw him sitting on the couch holding his guitar.

I went over to him and leaned down to kiss him before taking a seat across from him.

Shawn: "okay, so this song is called 'One Of Those Nights,' and I think it my favorite so far" he said smiling.

I smiled and clapped my hands in excitement as he began playing.

After strumming a few notes, he began to sing:

Think fast, move quick, don't stumble

Where do we go? We don't know

Kids running wild, girls crying drunk tears

Yeah, we make big plans, spending all our change
Caught up in the night, oh we missed the last train

Where do we go? We don't know

Let's make mistakes and don't look back, it's now or never

I got a little teary eyed listening to him sing those words. He wrote this song about last night, he even quoted the thing I said about every glass staying full.

Shawn: "so...?" He asked me nervously

Alexa: "I love it!" I squealed. I jumped into his arms and hugged him before pulling my head back and kissing his lips.
