As I laid in my bed, trying to fall asleep, I realized my results from the IQ testing had never been shared with me. I stepped into my slippers and decided to go downstairs. They were supposed to be in anyways.

As I made my way into the living room, I found my parents in the living room, speaking in serious tones to each other. My mom had her laptop opened.

"Mom, Dad," I said. They turned around.

"Peyton, what are you doing up?" my dad asked.

"I realized I never got the test results. They were supposed to be in tonight," I explained.

"We were just about to check and tell you tomorrow morning, but I guess we can tell you now," my mom said. I went and sat in between my parents.

"No matter what happens, everything is going to be fine," my dad comforted.

"We will love you no matter what," my mom confirmed.

"I know you will," I told her with a smile.

"Alright, here goes," my mom said nervously. She clicked on the email.

Simones- We are pleased, and slightly surprised to inform you that your daughter, Peyton Simone, received a higher score on this IQ test then she did on the previous one and once again received a 36 on her ACT. We know the gene edit implied on her was indeed inactive. We hope Peyton's intelligence continues to grow and we would be happy to have her work with us in the lab some day.

Congratulations! -Dr. Peter Jansen

I looked up from the computer and started to cry tears of happiness. Everything was going to be fine.

"Peyton, that intelligence you possess is all natural," my mom said in between cries of joy. My parents and I went nuts, screaming and jumping with excitement.

"Peyton, I'm so happy for you!" my dad exclaimed. We all continued to celebrate.

"What's going on?" a voice asked. I turned around to see Josh, rubbing his eyes.

"Peyton's gene edit was inactive, she naturally had the intelligence," my mom let out.

"Oh my god, that's amazing!" he exclaimed, running over to me and lifting me from my feet.

Everything was coming together and I could not have been happier.

Sorry for the short chapter!
