9 - Live Performance

Today was one of those days. The days where there is absolutely nothing to do. The boys were at this meet up in downtown L.A, so I couldn't be with them. My mom was at work, so I'm home alone. My phone buzzes, it's a Snapchat from Paige.

That's when a lightbulb went off in my head. I haven't seen nor talked to Paige in such a long time. Probably since I went out with the boys. I click on her profile and it takes me to our private messages.

Omg Janelle. I was hoping you would text me 😂

Sooo that's a yes?

Ofc! I will pick u up at 12 ;)

I get up and put some clothes on. It was getting colder outside, so I put on a long sleeved shirt and leggings. I also slipped on my favorite pair of boots. I tied my hair into a French Braid (I find myself to be pretty decent at braiding hair).

I check the time on my phone, 11:55. Paige should be here soon, and I can finally have a day with my true best friend. Not saying that Jack isn't a true friend, it's just that I don't feel the same around him as I used to. It's still a little awkward after that whole time we were apart.

I shake off the thought and hear a car horn. It must be Paige. I grab my house keys and purse and head outside. I could see Paige and another faint figure in the back seat.

"Hey, Paige. I'm so happy to see you again." I say getting into the passenger's seat.

"I know right. And I hope you don't mind but, I brought my older sister along with us." She said mumbling.

My heart sinks. I look behind me and see Paige's older sister behind us, waving at me. I roll my eyes. Piper Donnies, probably the most popular girl in school. At least last year, she's in collage now. But the thing about Piper is that she was the one that started the teasing last year. I was put into an Honors Algebra class with her in it. The second I walked into class, she started spreading rumors about me. I just hope she has changed.

"So, Janelle. How's that friend of yours, Jack is his name?" I could tell that she was smirking when she said that.

"Piper-" Paige started.

I cut her off, "He's fine. I don't know why you would care though."

"Well, it's just that I heard that he's in town. Are you dating him?" She said starting to laugh.

"Piper!" Paige raised her voice.

"It's fine, Paige. Yes, he lives in L.A. now. And we aren't dating." I snapped.

"Someone has an attitude." Piper started to laugh again.

I rolled my eyes. We were silent for the rest of the ride, and I wasn't only pissed at Piper, but a Paige for letting her come. She knows how much I hate Piper and what she did to me. We arrived at the mall and we went shopping for clothing. After a while, we were hungry and started walking around downtown.

"Hey, you guys up for some ice cream?" Paige asked as we were heading towards an ice cream shop.

"Sure." I said nodding my head.

"I don't really care." Piper said rolling her eyes. Her head was stuck in her phone, which really bugged me.

"Wow, the store looks really crowded." I said as we walked closer to the entrance.

"Ya, I wonder what's going on." We walked into the ice cream store, and there were girls everywhere.

"It looks like some sort of live performance." Paige said excitedly.

"Must be." I said walking over to the ice cream machines.

I couldn't see who exactly was performing, but they must be popular. We got our ice cream, and as we were waiting in line at the register, I heard a voice come from the speakers.

"Ok, who is ready for some music?" The voice said. I knew that voice from anywhere.

"Daniel?" I whispered.

"Huh?" Paige said looking at me weirdly.

"Nothing just.." I heard the music start playing. I knew that music from anywhere. "It's Taking You."

"What? Taking you?" I could tell that Paige thought I was weird.

"Could you two stop talking? It's your turn to pay." Piper snapped at us.

"Oh yeah, yeah." Paige said turning back towards the cash register.

"Hey, Paige. Can you hold my ice cream? I need to do something." I said handing her my cup.

"Sure." I turned away and started pushing my way into the crowd. I had to get up front.

I kept trying to push people out of my way, but no one would budge. I need to get to the boys. I don't know why, but I just felt I had to.

"I need you in my life like limelight, wherever I go I'm taking you." I heard Corbyn's voice echo throughout the room.

"Whenever I call you my lifeline, I never hang up. I depend on you." Zach added on.

"You fly with me so I call you redeye, the sky's so clear when you're the view." Jacks voice chimed in my ears. I couldn't help but fall in love with them.

"Hey, Janelle. You ok?" I hear Paige say to me.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine." To be honest, I wasn't paying attention to her.

She finally realizes what I'm looking at. "Is that them?" She whispers in my ear.

I slowly nod my head. "That sure is."

"What are you losers looking at?" Piper says sounding annoyed. "Ugh, a boy band. I'm going across the street. Come get me when you are done with your obsession."

I look at Paige and she looks at me. We roll our eyes. Only we would know, this isn't an obsession. They are more than a "boy band," they are my friends.

And nothing can beat that.
