17 - Halloween (Party)

~Janelle's POV~

     Paige, the boys, and I arrived at the costume party. I had no idea who anyone was, making me feel anxious. I felt someone hold tightly onto my hand, I looked up to see Jack in his goblin mask.

"You will be ok," He said pulling me closer.

"Of course I will. It's just a party," I sigh.

"Hey, Nellie. I'm right here if you need me. There is no need to worry." Jack gave me a tight hug.

"I'm not worrying, Jack. I'm fine." I shrug him off and walk towards the tables of food.

I look through the stacks of sweets and candy, taking a few cookies and M&M bags. If I was going to come to this party, I was going to do at least one thing that made me happy. Bingeing on M&Ms and chocolate chip cookies.
I took a quick look around, making sure no one was watching me. When the coast was clear, I ran off into the coat storage and sat in a corner. Guess this is my life for the next few hours...

You ok Janelle?

I turn off my phone and continue to eat my cookies. I probably exposed myself too much, I don't want anyone to find me here.
A few minutes go by and no one has showed up. I guess people don't care enough to look for me, but I'm fine with belong lonely. Suddenly, I hear the door creek open. I look down and stop chewing, hoping I won't be noticed.

"I know you are in here." I heard a familiar voice say, it was Paige. I stay silent.

"Come on, Janelle. This isn't how the night should go." I could tell she getting annoyed.

Paige walks over to the corner I was in and crouched down beside me. She tucked my long black hair behind my ears and showed me a smile. I look down, trying not to make eye contact.

"Everything ok?" She said quietly. I nodded.

"Janelle, tell me the truth. What's going on?" I finally decided to give in.

"If I'm going to be honest, I don't know. Since I got here, I haven't been in the best mood. There's just too many people.." I sigh, looking up into Paige's eyes.

"Listen, I know this may feel uncomfortable. But you need to get out there! You can't just sit around for 4 hours, it's Halloween. Lighten up a little." I gave off a small smile.

"You are right.. I guess I will go out there." I stand up with Paige and walk out of the coat room.

"Go find Jack, I bet he wants to see you." Paige says to me. I nod again and headed off into the crowd of people.

There was music blasting throughout the room, making it hard to hear the people right next to me. I struggle to find Jack since he is only in a half mask and full black body suit.
Soon, I bumped into someone. I look up to see a bright green goblin mask, it must be Jack.

"Hey there, cutie." He says to me.

"H-hi." I look down to the ground, trying to hide my blushing.

He lifts up my chin, "No need to hide. No one can see those red cheeks in here."

I give off a small smile, feeling a bit more comfortable. "Are you enjoying the party?" I asked.

"I guess, but you don't need to start a small talk." Something didn't feel right.

He leans in, puckering his lips. I ignore everything else that felt wrong and and followed his lead. Soon my lips were against his, and we stayed there for a while.
Everything went silent, as if we were the only people in the room. I felt people staring at me, but I brushed it off. I heard someone call my name..

"Janelle?!" I recognized they voice.

I snapped around, leaving the moment I was in. I could see there, standing in front of me, a curly haired goblin in a black body suit.

"Jack?" I whispered confusingly.

"How could you?" He yelled loud enough for the people around us to hear.

I turned back around, seeing a taller and stronger version of my curly haired goblin. He took off his mask, revealing my worse nightmare.

~Jack's POV~

It was getting later into the party and I haven't seen Janelle in ages. I told her I would be by her side, but she ran off a while ago. My eyes wondered around the busy room, trying to spot my favorite Minnie Mouse. I felt someone tap on my shoulder.

"Daniel?" I said noticing who it was.

"Umm, Jack." He said sounding worried.

"What's wrong, Dani?" I was getting a pit feeling in my stomach.

"You might want to come with me.." Daniel trailed off.

He took my hand and led me into the crowd of party goers. As we kept walking, I noticed people start to watch me. I was starting to shake, why is everyone staring at me?
We arrived in the middle of the dance floor. Daniel took a step to the side, revealing what he wanted me to see. There in front of us was Janelle. Not just Janelle, but also a boy. A boy that she was kissing. My heart dropped, I knew exactly who the boy was.

"Janelle?!" I shouted, getting her attention.

"Jack?" She said turning around, realizing that she was caught.

"How could you?" I shouted again, tears starting to run down my face.

She turned around. "Bret? What-"

"Quit acting, Janelle. I know what you were doing." I cut her off.

She turned back around, tears forming in her eyes. "Jack, it's not what it looks like."

I shook my head. "Really? Well what it looks like, is they you are kissing your bully. And not only that, but RIGHT AFTER I KISSED YOU. I TRUSTED YOU JANELLE, AND YOU GO OUT FUCKING OTHER BOYS."

"Jack, just listen to me.." Janelle ran up to my, trying to take me hand.

I ripped my hand out of her grip. Tears were streaming down both of our faces now. I didn't care anymore, I just had to get away from her. She hurt me, I can't stand to look at Janelle.
I turned around and ran out of the building, onto the busy streets. I heard someone run out behind me.

"Jack!" I heard Daniel yell. I ignored him and kept running.

I just wanted to be alone.
