~Janelle's POV~

I slowly munched on the waffle that I was eating, feeling no emotion whatsoever. My eyes wandered up, seeing a worried noodle head.

"Are you sure you're ok, Nellie?" Jack asked, watching me eat.

"I mean, it feels a little weird having you stare at me." I joke, swallowing the waffle.

He lets out a soft chuckle, "I mean it. You've been quiet all morning."

I look down at my plate, seeing a half eaten breakfast. A sigh escapes my mouth, I'm really not ok. Ever since the incident at the beach, I haven't been the same. What really is the point in being here if I never feel safe?

"What's up?" I heard Daniel's voice echo through the room.

My head snapped around to see him in all black and his hat on backwards, "Hey, Dani."

"Hi, Janelle. How are you feeling?"

"Why does everyone have to ask that?" I groan.

"Geez, I just wanted to show you that I care." Daniel wined.

"Sorry," I mumbled.

"Anyway, did Jack tell you about today?"

"No.." I dragged on, turning around towards Jack. "No, he didn't."

Jack started to blush and looked down, avoided eye contact with Daniel and I. Shaking my head, I face Daniel again.

"So, what are we doing today?"

Daniel hesitates before answering, "Well, we're going out today."

"We as in you guys?"

He pauses again, "All of us, including you."

"What? No, I'm not leaving this house."

I feel myself start to panic, not knowing what I'm up against. My mom left for a business trip a few days ago, so I've been staying at the boy's house. Since I'm not comfortable staying at Paige's at the moment, I thought this was the place where I'd be safe. Guess I was wrong..

"Who's ready for another mash up!" Zach shouted, rushing down the stairs.

"Everyone except me," I retorted, rushing outside.

The warm sun beat against my skin, calming me down. I'm not ready to go out in public again, not after my panic attack at the beach. Thoughts circled around in my head, what if I pass out again? What about the unknown number, they are still hunting me down.
After a few minutes, the sliding door opened. I stayed still where I was standing, ignoring the other person's presence.

"Nellie, it's time to go." I heard Jack call to me calmly.

I took a deep breath, "Fine."

Jack took my hand and we walked to the front of the compound where the van was. The other boys were already buckled up, so I quickly sat down between Zach and Jack. This is going to be fun.

We pulled up to a little spot along the beach where a lonely picnic table sat. I could see a tall, muscular figure standing at the table, their back facing away from us. My heart started to race, not knowing who it was.

"Come on, Janelle." I heard Corbyn tell me, getting out of the van.

I sighed and unbuckled myself, hesitantly stepping out. Besides us and the other person, there weren't many people around. It was a rocky, isolated part of the beach that overlooked the water. It was pretty, but unlike the boys house it didn't calm me down.

"Nellie, we want you to meet someone." Jack said, pulling me towards the unknown person.

"Janelle, meet Logan. Logan, meet Janelle." Daniel introduced, the man turning around.

The man turned around, revealing a mop of blond hair and a chiseled face.

"It's nice to meet you, Janelle." Logan spoke relatively loudly, giving me his hand.

"Nice to meet you too," I said, shaking his hand.

"So, you guys ready?" Logan shouted.

The boys nodded excitedly as I walked away. So he's the dude the boys have been hanging out with, huh. I managed to find myself in a clearing nearby. It was silent, until I heard some crackling from behind me.
My heart started to race again, but I couldn't get myself to turn around. There was a weird feeling in the air, almost as if someone was watching me. My breathing started to quicken, I tried to move but I couldn't. No, this can't be happening again.
I finally turned around, but my vision became blurry. There was a black figure a few feet in front of me, and it starting running in my direction. Trying to run, I tripped and hit my head. I felt a sharp pain in my gut, then it all went black.

~Jack's POV~

A few minutes had passed and we finally finished today's mashup. The sun was starting to set as we've been out for hours and there was a sudden silence in the air. It was peaceful, the sun shining over the ocean. The silence was soon disturbed, though, by a large thump near by.
I quickly turned around to see my worse nightmare. Janelle was laying down in a nearby clearing, a large, black figure hovering above her.

"HEY, GET AWAY FROM HER." I shouted, sprinting over to Janelle.

"Jack!" I heard voices call to me, obviously my brothers.

I ignored them as I watched the figure stab a sharp object into Janelle's stomach, making her scream in pain. As soon as I reached them, the figure had run off. It was only me and Janelle, her laying on the ground unconscious.

"Nellie, wake up. Please, I'm begging you." I shouted, shaking her.

Tears started running down my face, not being able to get Janelle to wake up. There was running coming from behind me, Daniel soon falling down beside me. Jonah followed behind, dropping the socks we took off earlier and wrapping them around the wound on Janelle's stomach.

I felt someone's tight grip wrap around me, "She will be ok, Jack."

It was Zach's voice, I can recognize if from anywhere. Janelle was soon lifted off the ground and into Corbyn and Jonah's arms. They carried her into the van as the rest of us got into our seats. We soon drove off in silence, all of us knowing who was to blame for this.

The unknown number.
