11 - Quiet (Pt. 2)

~Jack's POV~

I notice Janelle standing off towards the side. My mind goes blank. Why is she here? I thought we weren't supposed to have people over? Ugh, Zach blew it.
We sign off of the video, letting the world know about our first ever concerts in December. The boys and I are hyped, knowing that so many people enjoy our music.
The other boys finally notice Nellie and run over towards her. I stay behind, waiting for my turn to hug her. I wait off to the side patiently. After a few minutes, I look over to see what was taking so long. I watch just has Zach hugs Janelle and kisses her cheek. My heart drops. Did he really just do that? He knows how much Janelle matters to me. And he just goes off and kissed her? Not only Zach, but how can she let him do that?
Janelle looks over at me. I roll my eyes and run inside. I can't stand to look at her right now. I run into me and Corbyn's room. I slam the door and slide onto the ground, tears falling from my face.
How can Janelle just this happen? How can Zach do that to me? How can I just stand there and watch my two best friends tear me apart? I hear a knock on the door.

"Hey, bud. Can we talk.." It's Zach. I'd rather not see him right now, so I just sit there.
"Come on, Jack. Please, I'm sorry." I shake my head. No. Don't let him in.
"Don't make me go get Jonah. You know he will rip the knob off the door." I roll my eyes and get up. I take a deep breath and open the door.
"There he is. Listen Jack-"
"Save it." I stare into Zach's eyes. I turn around sit on the queen sized bed, my head in my hands.
"Jack, I really am sorry." Zach pleaded.
"Then why did you do it. Why did you kiss her." I mumbled.
"I ju-just. I don't know." He sits down next to me.
"Yes, you do know." I grunt.
"I really don't know." I roll my eyes.
"Yes, YOU DO ZACH." I jerk myself off the bed. "You do know Zachary. You know how much Janelle meant to me, and you just go out and kiss her?"
Zach shakes his head. "I really am sorry Jack. I'm sorry for kissing her."
"Oh, Zach. It's not just that. The way you hug her, drawing her towards you. I know you like her Zach. But she's my best friend. I've known her longer. I deserve her more." He stands up in front of me.
"Why, Jack? Why do you deserve her? You were the one to break her heart in the first place. You always stomp off away from her. She tells me the stories. I know more then you think." I was getting pissed now.

He doesn't know Janelle the way I do. He doesn't know her secrets, her fears. Zach doesn't have the memories I have with Janelle. He doesn't know how to make her smile and laugh like I do.

"Hey, Nellie. Want to hang out later?" I say walking up to Janelle.
"Jack.. I would love to, but I'm going out with Darren later." She says getting quiet.
"Oh, are you two a thing now?" I say looking down.
She hesitates. "Umm.. yes. Please don't get mad, Jack. You will always be my best friend, no matter what." Janelle lifts up my chin. "I promise."

A smile forms on my face. She didn't have to say that last part. We've kept that promise since we were little, and we always will.

"It's ok. Go have fun with your new boy friend." I say snickering.
She shakes her head with a smile, "Bye, Jack."
"Bye, Nellie." We hug for a few seconds, then go our separate ways.

I start heading out of the school. If I'm going to be honest, I am a little upset that Janelle has a boyfriend. We've been best friends for 13 years now, and I always saw myself with her. Nobody else.
My stomach grumbles, I am feeling a bit hungry. I go to the vending machine to get a snack before my mom picks me up. As I turn the corner to the cafeteria, I see him.
Darren. Not just Darren, but a girl. And he is kissing her. That isn't right, he's supposed to be Janelle's boy friend. I stomp up to Darren and pull him away.

"Dude? What's your problem?" Darren says struggling out of my grip.
"What's my problem?" I say letting him go. "My problem is that you are cheating on my best friend. Janelle Applegate? Ring a bell?"
"I-I have no idea who you are taking about." Darren says stepping back.
"Darren?!" I hear a familiar voice from behind me. "Jack?!"
"Janelle!" I tell running up to her. "You can't trust him, Nellie. He's cheating on you!"
"What do you mean Jack?" She says pushing me to the side. She sees the blonde girl next to Darren. "Who are you?"
"Who am I? More like who are you?" The blonde girl shouts.
"I'm Darren's girlfriend." Janelle shouts.
"Not anymore, your not." I say pushing past Janelle.

     I stomp towards Darren, pulling my arm back. My hand forms into a fist, backing up right in front of Darren.

      I let go, letting my fist fly forward. I feel my knuckles crack as Zach falls to the floor.

"What's going on?" Janelle says busting into the room.

      She looks at me and then down at Zach. Janelle falls onto her knees, tears streaming from her face. Just like in the flashback.

"Jack! What did you do?" Jonah says rushing next to Zach, examining where I punched him.
"I-I don't know.." I mumble.
"Well what I do know is that you need to get out!" Jonah yells at me. I get up and rush out of the room.
"JACK NO! COME BACK!" I hear Janelle call from the bedroom.
"No, stay here." I faintly hear Jonah say to Janelle.

      I grab my car keys, phone, and jacket, and head out the door. I can't be here, at least not now.

"Jack! What happened?" I hear Daniel say, trying to catch up with me. I ignore him.
"Dude, answer us." Corbyn adds on, following behind.

      I continue to ignore them, no matter how many questions they ask. I start the car and drive off. Daniel and Corbyn stand at the entrance of our house, having no clue of what just happened. They will find out eventually.

Just not from me.

It was hard for me to write to this knowing how  close Jack and Zach actually are. But this fight was requested a lot, so I just felt I had to. Hope you all enjoyed ;)
