~Janelle's POV~

I set down the TV remote after selecting the LEGO Batman Movie, the only entertainment I've had these past few days. The house was quiet, the only noises coming from the movie. My stomach also hurts like hell, making it impossible to do anything else.
My mom was still out of town and the boys are out with their families, leaving me home alone. I honestly liked it like this, having time to myself. I've had time to gather my thoughts and to calm down.

-

After the movie finished, I started looking for something different to watch. I've already binged on Netflix for so long, it's hard to find a show I haven't seen.

"Ugh, I can't find anything." I whispered to myself.

"The LEGO Batman Movie looks cool," I heard a voice answer, not thinking much about it.

"But I've already watched-" I paused and slowly turned around to see a head of noodles.

"Already watched it? I know, but it's too good not to binge on." Jack finished, making me bounce off the couch and into a hug.

"What are you doing here, Jack? I thought you didn't get back until tomorrow!"

"Well, you thought wrong." Another voice spoke, stepping into the living room.

"DANIEL!" I yelled pouncing onto him. "Who else is here?"

I pulled away and ran into the entrance room, seeing three other familiar guys.

"Hey, Nellie!" Zach shouted, running into me.

"How are you feeling?" Jonah asked pushing Zach away.

"Great, now that you guys are here." I said with a smile stretching across my face.

"I'm glad you are feeling better," Corbyn added, joining the rest of us.

We gathered into the living room and started to played the LEGO Batman Movie again. Jack was right, it is too good not to rewatch. After a while, Jack's phone started to buzz and he walked out of the room. I didn't think much about it, at least until he didn't come back for another 10 minutes.

"I'm going to go check on him." I mumbled, getting up from the couch.

The boys nodded as I walked out of the living room. I could hear someone talking on the phone, figuring that if was Jack. I found myself in the entrance room, Jack facing away and towards the door. He hung up the phone just as I was about to say something.

"Who was that?" I asked suddenly, making Jack jump.

"I-It was no one.." He stuttered.

"Jack, tell me. Who were you talking to?"

He didn't answer, instead there was knock on the door. Jack quickly walked over but hesitated to open it.

"Janelle, there is someone here who wants to talk to you." Jack told me right before turning the knob.

I nodded as he started to open the door. On the other side revealed someone who I haven't talked to in a few days, but not someone who I expected to be here.

"Paige?"

"Hi, Janelle." She mumbled, unsure of what to say next.

"It's ok, Paige. Just tell her." Jack whisper to Paige, making her seem even more nervous.

Paige stepped into the house and walked over toward me, making me start to feel anxious as well.

She took a deep breath, "Nells, there is something I have to tell you."

"Hah, I didn't notice." I added sarcastically.

Paige sighed, "I know who the unknown number is."

I stood there in shock, not knowing how to react. Paige knows who the unknown number is? How long has she known? I felt myself nod, no words coming out of my mouth.

"Come with me." Paige finally said, realizing that I wasn't going to say anything.

-

We pulled up to the Donnie's house, Jack, Paige, and I. My heart was beating out of my chest, why am I here right now? Jack took my hand as we walked up to the front door. Paige had a number dialed into her phone, but I couldn't see what it was.

"You ok, Janelle?" Paige whispered to me, grabbing ahold of the door knob.

I nodded slightly, following her into the house. Jack walked closely behind, almost as if he was guarding me. Paige motioned for me to stay where I was as she stepped further into the living area. My breathing started to quicken, not understanding what was going on.

"SHE'S HERE." Paige shouted, noticeably gripping onto her phone harder.

Jack's grip on my hand tightened as well, making me even more worried. I had no idea what was going on, but there was something about it that wasn't right. There was tension in the air, I could feel it.
I could hear stomping coming down the stairs, that and someone heavily breathing. I kept silent, probably what's best for this situation. Suddenly, I heard the click of a gun. It was being loaded with something, that's when Paige tapped the call button on her phone. I knew who she calling now, Paige was calling 911.

"Where is she?" I heard someone talk in a harsh and raspy, but familiar tone.

"Somewhere," Paige mumbled.

"WHERE IS SHE OR I WILL SHOOT." The voice yelled, now clear on who it was.

"JACK, TAKE THE PHONE!" Paige shouted, tossing the phone over to Jack who held it quickly by his ear.

I hear a couple gun shots, then I saw her. Jack pulled me outside of the house as we ran into the front yard. He was mumbling a bunch of words into the phone, but I was too in shock to pay attention to what Jack was saying. All I could hear was the shouting and gun firing coming from inside.
The police soon arrived along with an ambulance. I felt someone tug on me, pulling me away from the house. I couldn't move, though. I was frozen, paralyzed in fear. Thoughts raced around in my head as I lost track of time.
Next thing I knew, I was sitting in a hospital room. My best friend sitting with me, our hands interlocked. In front of us, Paige. The person who was there for me when Jack wasn't, and the person who was fighting for life. Everything after that was a blur..

But I will never forget what Piper did that day.
