~Janelle's POV~

I sigh, where do I begin? I guess I should start with, it's been a while. If I'm going to be honest, not much has happened in my life since December. Guess you could say that the past month has been a low for me..
My phone buzzes, probably another Instagram notification. I don't bother to look at it, social media has been the least of my priorities for while. Well, after them. My phone starts to ring and I finally give in.

"Hello?" I mumble in an annoyed tone.

"Hey, Janelle!"

"Oh. Hi, Paige. Aren't you supposed to be at school?"

"I guess I should, but I called in sick today."

"Ah, I see. So, what's up?"

"The sky.."

"Ugh, don't start with that."

"Why? I'm just being sarcastic."

I stay silent.

"Oh, I see. If I'm going to honest, Janelle, you need to talk to them at some point."

"I know, I know. I just can't get around to it."

"Really? You have all the time in the world, are you seriously going to go along with that excuse."

"You know me too well, Paige."

"I know. So, go talk to them."

"I can't. They are busy, and you know that."

That last part was true, and let me explain why. Over the past two months or so, the Why Don't We boys have down a lot more than I have. Let me just list a few..

1. Killed it at their Philly and NYC concerts
2. Made it on to the Billboard Heart Seeker's charts
3. Released music videos for JTSYS and Free
4. Made it on the cover of a magazine
5. Opened a merchandise store
6. Hit 200k views on the Taking You video

And there is a lot more to that. I mean, I guess I spent a little time on social media since then. But to be honest, I'm still not over the boys. I just miss them so much, but they probably don't miss me.

"Janelle?"

"Oh, right.. sorry."

"Zoned out?"

"A little, yeah."

"I swear, you need to get out of the house."

"No, Paige. I really don't.."

"Yes, you do. I will be at your house in 10, you better be ready."

"I'm serious, I don't need to-"

She hung up. I rolled my eyes and got up from my bed. I haven't been outside of the house in so long, nor my room in general. I shuffle through my closet and pick out a long sleeved shirt with jeans.

That should do for now. I grab my phone and head downstairs to the empty living room. My mom was probably at work, trying her best to earn a living for us. I finally decided to scroll through my Instagram and Twitter, looking through all of the things I've missed.
I hear a car horn, it must be Paige. I gather my things and head outside, seeing a bright, happy, and "totally sick" girl.

"Hey, Paige." I say running up, forcing a small smile.

"Sup, Janelle. Hop in, we have places to go."

I get into the car and we head off into downtown L.A. The city always looks so lively during the day, and the weather is beautiful in the middle of winter. If only there was snow here like in Pennsylvania..

-

I feel the hard snow get pelted on the back of my head, causing me to scream in pain.

"What the heck, Jack? I was trying to gather my snow," I said in an annoyed tone.

"I know. That's why I threw the snowball at you." He starts to laugh a little.

"Will you shut up? It's not funny.."

"Geez, Nells. Why are girls so dramatic," Jack rolls his eyes.

That's it, I've had enough of him. I quickly take a chunk of snow and form it into a snowball. I turn around to see Jack facing away and I run up, smashing the snow onto his head.

"Dude! Not cool."

"Who's the dramatic one now?" I shout, laughing to point where I can't breath.

We both start laughing, it was kind of funny. I started to shiver from the freezing weather, and Jack stepped next to me, pulling me into a hug.

"Thanks, Jacks."

"Anytime, Apple."

Jack and I stood there for a minute, defending ourselves from the cold wind. Everything was alright, just me and him. Until we heard the back door open..

"Jack, Janelle. Can you come inside please?" My mom shouted from the back porch.

"Can we stay out for a little longer?" I wined, not wanted to leave the outdoors.

"Janelle, it's serious. Now get inside.." I could tell my mom was about to cry, but I didn't know why.

We all walked inside and I was greeted by Jack's mom and sisters. They were all sitting on the couch, Kristen and Sydnie having pained looks on their faces.

"What's wrong?" Jack asked with fear in his voice.

"Jack, Janelle, come sit down with us." Kristen said softly, leading us next to her.

I looked at my mom and she was looking at Kristen. I felt my body start to shake, something is wrong.

"Honey.." my mom started, tears starting to fall down her face. "Y-your dad.."

"Your dad got into a car accident, he didn't make it sweetie." Kristen finished.

I felt my whole world go crashing down. My dad was my best friend, after Jack. He was always there for me when Jack wasn't, and my dad always supported me in everything.
I didn't know what I would do without him in my life.. and now he's gone.

-

"Janelle? You ok?" I heard Paige whisper, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm ok." I stared out the car window, watching as we drove past the beach we used to visit all the time.

I thought of the beach of course, but not my memories with Jack. But my memories with my Dad. How we used to visit family at Virginia Beach, and swim there all day. It was where I learned to surf, and from the best teacher ever.

"I wonder how the boys are doing in Minneapolis right now." Paige said, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, I wonder." Oh, and did I tell you.

The boys start their first tour tomorrow.
