Chapter 3: Calamity at Bay

I was met by silence when I came out of the interrogation room.

"Send some guards and escort the hunter to the infirmary. Make sure to keep him down." Summer ordered her right hand woman.

"Yes, Miss Cahill." She bowed and did as was told before leaving the four of us in the room.

"That should be me doing the torture." Spring says in envy and humor.

"I told you to step up."-Autumn

"And I told you to shut up, Mist."-Spring

"You know you can't stop my mouth from running, Anderson."

"This childish banter is getting more annoying than ever. You guys should accompany the hunter if you're going to waste your saliva." Summer intruded for the first time but I can feel the irritation coming from her tone.

"More importantly, I've hacked all the files regarding this hunter. There weren't much since he seemed to lack the interest." Spring said, making the three of us listen to her.

"His name is Lucas Martinia. Asian. About 16 years old. He was kicked out from his school and was forced by his parents into taking a job as a porn star. But things didn't turn out well because a friend came to visit to their house and found their bodies hanged with bruises and wounds. He was 15 at the time and they couldn't take him to prison so they took him under the care of the government. Eventually, he ran away was never heard from since."

We didn't interrupt and let her continue.

"The media turned his face in the news after a year and caught him stealing money from a rich mansion. They tried imprisoning him but he killed his way out. Leaving a maximum of ten cops lay dead on the cold floor. He disappeared until we found him after two years yet--" she cleared her throat.

"I've tried my best to find this guy working behind the scenes with the Hunters, but the information is lacking after two years of absence. Though we can already guess how he got to be one. I think those hunters train their colleagues well before going to the field. But.... This one is no match for those who we have defeated. He's like a lab mouse for testing."

My breath hitched when I realised what the last sentence meant. Shit. Now that I think of it, we may have fallen to their traps. The three were looking at me with wide eyes, seeing that I have been clenching my hand on the arm chair, making it bend and break with the force that I have.

"Call the Owls and tell them to double the defense in the barriers." I ordered.

Summer was already on the phone to warn them.

"Autumn, check the perimeters. Spring, you're in charge for doubling the defense in the South and East."

"On it."-Spring

"Summer, defense on both West and North."

"Will do."-Summer

I took a sharp breath and dialed Jin's number. It has been 2 days since the incident with Lucas, they should have rested quite long.

"Beta, call the team and split them to groups. Leave the Lunas behind. Secure and roam the place. The Hunters may have already intruded past the barriers. We need to defend the lands."

"Yes, Alpha."

I ended the call and went out to the infirmary. That hunter has distracted us real good. I can't believe I fell for the trap.

I stormed through the room and looked at him coldly. He was lying on the bed with wide eyes while the nurse was treating him. Good. He's awake.

"Miss Blackburn." The guards asked in shock but I didn't take my eyes off the person I was here for.
