Autumn Mist

This is gonna be fun. It's been so long since I played this kind of thing and being paired with Winter has made me realize how long we haven't worked together as a pair.

By the signal, I point my gun straight for their weapons. No one said we have to hide for survival. A straight-on attack can be an option.

"How long?" Winter asks as she stares at the running people.

"Give me ten." I say, my lips twitching.

There are thirty kids in total. I need three milliseconds for each one.

One by one, I managed to knock their weapons off their hands, most yelled in shock and tried to grab them back but after ten seconds, they all fell to their knees on the ground.

Winter somehow targeted their legs to leave them crawling on the field. She didn't even bother using her gun. Finally, we broke those stony expressionless faces off.

I grabbed something from my pocket as I fumbled with it.

"One last touch before the prize." I grin, breaking the stick in half before throwing it at them.

Winter and I backed away, watching smoke erupt from the stick and spreading towards the kids. We heard some coughs before silence came and the smoke dispersed.

Low and behold the unconscious bodies lying throughout the field. I looked at the watch on my wrist with eyebrows raised.

"Exactly 30 seconds. Too long for only thirty of them. The smoke must have stayed longer than expected." I turn to Winter with disappointment.

The instructor was absolutely speechless. Seeing that we took down his students when we just came in. What's not normal about that?

He clears his throat as he nods before heading for the door. I won't be surprised if he runs to find Cavis. That's exactly what happened to me yesterday.

"The mission is still ongoing I see. Good thing I came in case you needed help with Cavis. Travil is difficult to crack. Should we storm up to him and tell him the truth? It would be a shock for him but we need to finish this. Raymond wouldn't let us go until we do and we have to get back to town. My organization is freaking out and unlike you, I sell women, not assassins." I rambled to her, sitting on the grass.

"And what's that on your neck? Did you get chained or something? Don't tell me that bastard choked you? I'd be damned if our leader is so frail right now that she lets this monster overcome her."

"Shut up, Mist." She demanded.

"Just tell me why we have to keep this charade for too long." I whined.

I miss my comfy bed. And my house. And my coffee. And my dresses. And my desk. And my fox (Yeah I have a fox as a pet, thank you very much). And my pool. And my bodyguard that I sometimes fuck with. And my bags. And my lingeries. And my-- should I stop now? I'm clearly just bragging.

"I want to beat around the bush for a while. We need to make them believe we're in for a fight and seeing their shocking faces when the truth is revealed is completely satisfying."

I whip my head to her at what she just said. She was grinning. Evilly. A hungry wolf cannot be tamed once it sets eyes on its prey.

"It doesn't look like it to me. You're going to torture him, aren't you?" I gave her a sly smile when she didn't answer.

The game has barely even started and she's going to play Travil's game of chess. He plays the king, and she's going to be the wolf queen who will devour him slowly until he gets the checkmate from her. I can't wait to see how it ends.
