Trust In Me

Once the exorcists' footsteps have faded into the distance, Bryan throws his hands up.
"All right bitches. Who voted for Kyler?".

Amarie gulps.

"I voted for Kyler," she admits, trying her best to avoid the Detective's glare,
"because she hasn't done a thing and Daniel killed Nyadhol. He killed my bitch.".

Trey's voice is a quiet murmur
"I voted for Kyler.".

Octavia
Bitch was I perplexed when Trey said that

"Did you?" Alec asked, surprised himself.
"What?" Devon asked, tapping his foot.
"Daniel was going in there no matter what I did," he explains, "so there was no point in voting for him.".

As Daniel and Kyler follow Thomas to the basement, Daniel feels like he's walking to his grave. And he very well might be—if this challenge is anything like the others, he has a fifty percent chance of survival. Or maybe, they'll both live and get to choose someone else to kill. Just like the Path of Betrayal.

"Oh my god.." squeaks Kyler, more to herself than anyone else, and guilt hits Daniel like a bullet to the stomach.

Daniel
It's my fault she's here. She should be upstairs, relaxing with her friends, but instead she's being forced to help me exorcise a demon.

And if he had just voted for Amarie, who deserves this awful fate, Kyler might have been spared. He reaches out and grabs her hand giving it a squeeze.

"I promise you, we're gonna be just fine." It's a plain out lie, and he knows it, but what is he supposed to say? She walks in a broken manner, having ignored his failed attempt at comfort,
"I'm scared. I'm really scared.".

Kyler
Daniel is trying his best to comfort me and I appreciate it. We go into the basement and there's just this terrible smell that hits us right in the face...

"What in the world is this?" he coughs, his lungs searching frantically for fresh air.
"Why does it smell like this?".

Cassidy. There she is again. Daniel makes himself not look at her. Kyler faces the other direction, not able to see one of her dead bestfriends. The one that she failed to save. The one she killed.

"Where are we going?" Kyler asks, voice shaking from the fear and tears in her eyes. Thomas ignores the question, walking on into the unknown.
Daniel tries asking again, louder, but the prince seems determined to keep his ears sealed shut.
They pass by the priest's room.
Kyler's voice is a nonstop whimper,

"I really don't wanna do this. I don't wanna do this. I don't wanna do this...".

Then, their walk of agony is over, and they've reached their destination.

Kyler
Which is, apparently, a scary dungeon basement thing with a table, a candle, and two pieces of paper.

Daniel
And there's a closed door on the opposite wall, which must be where—the exorcism—

Kyler
I'm not ready.

"What's this?" Kyler wrinkles her nose. There's a strange, almost soothing smell mingling with the stench of the basement, which leads to a weird sensation,
"Do you smell that?".
