Samantha's POV (One Week Later)
After Shawn's concert last week, him, Aaliyah, and I stayed after and just talked for a few hours before we went to our hotel. Shawn was sad that he had to leave for the next show, but also kept thanking us for coming and surprising him. I knew it meant a lot to him.
Not to mention that the video of us singing together again was everywhere once again within 24 hours, along with the requests to have me come to all the other shows to do the same thing. I knew that wasn't possible, unfortunately.
But, yesterday was my last day with Aaliyah and I leave out tomorrow to make it to my college on time. It really sucks, to be honest. Compared to the summer I've had, I'm so not ready to go to a campus and start going to school again.
The weirdest thing was that I have to take Tim with me. He now has to come to college with me. I don't even know how that's gonna work.
"You alright, honey?" I hear my mom ask, coming into my room that's packed full of boxes.
"I just feel like... I don't know," I mumble out.
"You feel like going to college isn't the best use of your time, right?" she finishes my thought, sitting down next to me on my bed.
"Kind of, Yeah."
"Well, we've already paid for your first semester, so let's just get you back in the college feel and rhythm before we make any decisions, alright? Can we at least promise that?" my mom comprises with me.
"I guess I can do that. Thanks, Mom," I tell her," leaning over to hug her. She smiles at me before getting up and starting to walk away. Before she leaves my room completely, she turns around back to me.
"I almost forgot to tell you, but I'm really proud of you for everything you've accomplished this summer. You really went for your dream... for your passion," she tells me and then leaves my room.
"Everything I've accomplished... for my dream... for my passion..." I pause, hearing the words again. "There's still so much more I can do. And I want to. You're right Mom, it definitely is my passion," I tell myself, laying down to sleep in my bed one last time before I go onto my dorm bed.
I think about my summer.
Meeting back up with Aaliyah
Music Video
Hanging out with Shawn again
Getting close to him again
Playing a game and having my first interview
Performing on the Late Late Show
Getting a manager
Surprising Shawn for his birthday
Getting to perform in the biggest arena in Ontario for thousands of people alongside Shawn
I fall asleep quickly, smiling.
••••••••••
Tim is driving in a separate car, because
1) I need my own car at school
2) I needed the room in his car
and 3) he also is going to need his own car
I had to say goodbye to my mom this morning and surprisingly, Aaliyah came by the house to send me off as well. I cried, Aaliyah cried, my mom cried the most, Tim cried the least, because he didn't at all, and I had to leave both of them. At least they had each other. Tim is great and all, but he's not the girl friend that I need.
I've been on the road for almost 12 hours and I kind of want to kill myself, but I'm SO CLOSE I can smell the soggy air and feel the brokeness from the college students.
Sure enough, in the next few minutes I'm pulling into my parking lot for my dorm building. I tell Tim to wait in the car while I go check in.
"Samantha!" I hear from above me. I look up. Sure enough, none other than Chrissy is sticking her head out her dorm window, waving at me. I laugh, but can't help the automatic smile that pops onto my face from seeing her.
"CHRISSY!" I yell back louder.
"Where are you going?!" She continues to yell.
"I have to check in!" I yell back.
"I already did that, silly," she tells me like I missed something.
Which I did.
"I have to check me in," I try again.
"Yeah... they assumed you were with me and I told them you were waiting in the car. It took some bargaining, but you're checked in, roomie," she explains.
"In that case," I say and then start running towards the building. Her head disappears from the window and as I make it to the door of the building, I see her coming around the corner from inside. She runs to the door, swings it open and we fall into a hug that can only be described as "the best friend hug where you haven't seen each other in three months and have really missed each other" hug.
We stay hugging for at least a minute before we let go and we both start talking at the same time.
"How was that summer job working at the nursing home? Did you make any new best friends I should know about?"
