34. Three words

"Is this what it's like?"

It was finally November so it was incredibly cold. A couple days went by and Shawn was finally released from the hospital. With the holidays coming up I was happy to know that Shawn was finally able to enjoy them.

"Dad I'm heading to Shawn's house!" I yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

I put on my coat as I heard my dad jog down the stairs. He looked at me and had a look like he was about to give me a long speech.

"Okay get there safe, and I really hope I don't have to give you the talk." He said awkwardly.

I felt blush creep up to my cheeks, "No dad you definitely don't. I am a big girl and I took care of myself for years."

That last line hurt him but we both knew it was true. I did take care of myself when my mom left. I know my dad is trying now but there's just some things he can't teach or warn me about.

"Yeah I'm sorry." He told me.

I nodded, "Yeah I know, I got to go. I love you." I told him.

He hugged me, "Love you too, make sure to text me letting me know you got there okay."

"Will do." I told him as I grabbed my bag and left my house.

I seen Lauren's car pull up, she had a big smile. I jogged over to the passengers side and got in.

"You're awfully excited." She told me as I put on my seat belt.

I smiled, "well yeah I mean I haven't seen him in a week and he's finally home."

"Ugh new you in love is gonna make me puke." Lauren told me as she started to drive away from my house.

I laughed at her comment but I stared outside. It was weird but she was right, the new me was in love. I mean at least I think this is what love feels like? I wanna say it is because the feeling is so new to me but I liked it.

If a few months ago someone told me that I'd meet a guy unlike any other and he'd make me fall in love, is think they're absolutely crazy. I mean me? Fall in love? Yeah no, I never seen that ever being in my future. I was someone who had just been let down, or put down because of others.

I didn't let my walls down because I was so scared that they'd leave. They always did until now, or I hope until now. I was just really happy right now and it was because of one person.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as I noticed that where she was driving didn't look familiar. I looked over at her and gave her a confused look.

"Uh this isn't the way to Shawn's house." I told her.

She laughed, "Yeah I think I know that. It's because we're not going to Shawn's house."

"Then where are we going?" I asked feeling excited and nervous at the same time.

She just smiled, "It's a surprise."

After a couple more minutes of driving before she pulled up to a little park. She parked the car and looked over at me.

"Okay this is the part where I drop you off." She told me.

I gave her a confused look, "What am I supposed to do?"

"I don't know go look around or something. I actually have to go run errands so out you go." Lauren told me trying to get me out of her car.

I shook my head before getting out. I couldn't really see anything, I walked down the hill and literally looked awkward. I kept walking and looking around for something, anything. I remembered I had to text my dad so I did just that.

I then walked past a big tree only to find a blanket and basket on the floor next to it. I then seen Shawn standing there with a bouquet of pink roses and a smile on his face.

"Hope you didn't mind, I kind of wanted to be outside before being stuck in my house all weekend." Shawn laughed.

I walked over towards him and took the bouquet from him, "I don't mind at all."

I then stood on my tippy toes to give him a kiss. He cupped my cheek to keep me there as he kissed me back. We then pulled apart and sat down on the blanket.

"So Mendes what did you bring?" I asked him as I opened the basket.

He laid down on the blanket and shrugged, "To be honest my mom made everything since I couldn't."

I took out the food as I looked at Shawn. He laid there with his eyes closed and let the spots of sun hit his face. Everything about how he looked right now took my breath away. His hair looked soft and curly, he just looked annoyingly perfect.

"You're staring." He mumbled.

I looked away and set all the food down, "I have no idea what you're talking about. Anyways your mom made us sushi and I've never loved someone so much."

Shawn finally peaked his eyes open, "Not even me?"

"Who said I loved you?" I asked him.

He then sat up on his elbows, "Wow in hurt."

"You'll get over it." I joked.

I then handed him his food and we ate as we looked out at the park. The perfect green and the trees changing color. It looked beautiful with the leaves falling and making the park look green and orange with red.

"Are you excited to go back to school?" I asked him as we laid down on the blanket next to each other.

He looked over at me, "Um definitely not."

"Why?" I asked.

He laughed, "Who likes going to school?"

"You got me there." I said with a laugh.

He then took my hand in his and intertwined our fingers.

"But I'm glad to be going back with you." He told me.

I looked over at him and rolled my eyes, "You're so cheesy."

"I love you America." He told me as he turned on his side.

My heart stopped and started to beat fast at the same time. I felt a bunch of fluttering in my stomach from hearing him say that.

"I love you too." I whispered.

He just gave me that smile I loved so much. He then brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it.

Yeah I was definitely in love with him.

Honestly think the epilogue will be the next chapter because I have NOOOOO clue what else to write for it.
This is a good thing because it's been up since 2016 and now I'm finally finishing it.
