Chapter 10- Everyone Else
"Ready to go?" We were still lounging on the front porch of his parents' house, drinking beer.
"Sure" I smiled at him and put aside my empty bottle of beer. I stood up and went inside the house to get my things.
"Mom! Dad! We're leaving!" Seth shouted as he made his way towards the backyard.
I picked up my purse and the little box that housed the seashell fell on the floor. I picked it up and stuffed it in my purse just as Grace and Ben went to where I was.
"It was nice meeting you Ysabel" Grace hugged me once more and I hugged her back, thinking back to what happened earlier. I do hope Seth finds a wife soon.
After Grace gave me a bone crushing hug, Ben gave me one too and man! I can't breathe, again! "You better come back here for more steaks" Ben whispered to me and I chuckled.
"Of course Ben, I'll be back, I promise" I said as we let go of each other. I smiled at the old couple and began to turn around when I felt something heavy embracing my leg. I looked down and saw Marie.
"Marie" I removed her hands from my legs and I crouched down to her level. She looked like she was about to cry and I don't know what to do with a little girl crying so I do what I think was best, I hug her.
"I'll be back Marie" I whispered in her ear.
"Promise?" I look at her and she was pouting.
"Promise" I smiled at her and just like that, the tears were gone and she was no longer sad.
We got inside his car and I noticed that Seth was silent the whole exchange in their house.
"What's wrong?" I turned to him and he was staring out to the distance.
"My family likes you" He said it like he doesn't believe it.
"And that's a problem because?" I raised an eyebrow at him which causes him to chuckle.
"That's no problem Ysabel, its just a little surprising" He said it with complete shock and that made me laugh.
"So I take it your parents hate all the girls you paraded in front of the media?" I pointed a finger at him and he shooed away my finger.
"Pretty much" He shrugged while I thought of all those skinny girls with their hands on Seth. Okay, you have got to stop thinking about things that make you upset. A small voice in my head sneered at me.
I looked out the window and tried to remove my earlier thoughts from my brain. "We're here" His voice snapped me out of my reverie.
I looked outside and saw my parents outside my apartment. Oh dear! My eyes widened and I got out of the car to go and get my parents who look like lost puppies.
"Mom, Dad" I shouted as I crossed the street.
They looked up and I saw relief in their eyes when they saw me. "Ysabel! Where have you been?" My mother hugged me as soon as I was at arms length.
"I'm sorry, I was busy. I thought you were staying at Denise's apartment" I asked as soon as my mother let go.
"We are, we just wanted to see you first and hope to stay in your place for a night" She smiled at me.
"Hey dad" I smiled at him and he hugged me. I missed them so much.
"Hey kiddo" He kissed my forehead and let go.
"Mr. and Mrs. Crest?" A voice behind me spoke and my whole body went stiff. How can I forget about Seth? I thought he left already.
"Kid, who's this?" My dad asked and raised an eyebrow at me. I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out.
