When I got out, putting back my white high heels, my feet still cold from the marble tiles, and the cold air rushed through me.
My skin felt like it was covered in frostbites, though I had dunked my face into cold water, then used the hand dryer for my hair. Not that I cared about looking good in the photos, because it meant nothing.
It was night, and everyone had planned to dance it away, the soft gentle music blaring and drowning out all feelings. Good enough for me.
Camila dancing with K.J, her eyes cautious but sparkled like diamonds.
And Maddie with her ash coloured hair burning in the dark, a comforting fire.
How they would always be there for me, but not the way he did.
Cole was alone, a drink in his hand. No wife-to-be. I wondered where she was, but then I didn't want to think about her now. Just him.
"You okay?"
I wouldn't know any better than you.
"Can we talk?" I ask, wiping my palms against the dress.
He nods and takes my hand,"Let's dance first."
