"What do you mean?" I asked the one that possess her body. "I'm not going back, I hate it there." I looked at her lifeless face and felt a warm tear fall down my cheek.

The voice spoke once again, "Then this is your path but you must watch after this girl." Jessie's eyes returned to normal but she became unconscious.

I could hear footsteps from behind us then came a familiar voice. I could hear footsteps from behind us then came a familiar voice. "JESSIE? WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?" It was Miss Ade, she actually came out to look for Jessie. I couldn't lift Jessie so I  dragged her to the broken front door of the house, I hid her under the blankets as I hid in the dark corner nearby. A light from a lantern hit the house, "Jessie?!" She yelled out again. I felt her energy as she approached the house, I looked out from the shadows and saw her standing there staring at the front of the house. She took a step inside and looked around she only stayed in the front room due to the floor caving in. She must have worried she might fall through, as she swung the lantern around the light was inches from exposing my torn dress. After some heart-stopping minutes, she finally left. I slowly walked over to Jessie to make sure she was still breathing, as I knelt down the floor board's creaked under me. They were so loud it drew the Miss Ade back to the house, she lifted her lantern up and we came face to face. She slowly looked down and saw Jessie laying there, unconscious and still. Her eyes widen as she looked at us both, "Violet? I thought you were dead." She said softly. "What are you doing with Jessie? Is she still alive?" She knelt down and placed her ear to Jessie's chest to hear a smooth heartbeat.

"Yes, she is fine. . ." I drifted my words off and looked down at her dirty covered dark skin, she had mud all over her.

"What are you doing out here? And all by yourself?" She placed her hand on mine and looked me deep in the eyes.

"I'm not hurt, I can take care of myself," I said as I took my hand away and placed it next to me.

"What if you were hurt badly and no one knew where to find you? What if?.... What if. . ." she looked down at Jessie and stays silent for almost a minute then spoke, "What if she was killed while she was with you? Who would find out?" She stops and looks me in the eyes. "Violet your like a daughter to me, I would die if it meant protecting you."

I was frozen at those words, "a daughter?" I whispered to myself. How can she say that? I'm not like the other children, I'm not even sure if I'm even human.

"

Violet, will you be my daughter?" She asked me as she picked up the lantern and stretched her hand out to me.

I looked at Jessie then up at her, "What about her? Will she ever find a mother?" I asked her.

"Well if no one takes her in by her birthday this week I'll take her in as well. You two can be sister's." She smiled at me. I took her hand and stood in front of her, she handed me the lantern that was running low on wax as there were only a few inches of candle left. She picked up Jessie and made our way back to the orphanage.

"Oh wait I almost forgot!" I handed her the lantern and ran back to the house before we got any closer town. I ran to the front door and went to the room where John and Melissa were sleeping.  'I'm sorry but I must go.' I thought to myself as I placed one hand on each of their heads and placed a thought of me leaving and thanking them for their hospitality. I promised them I will come back after I finished I stood up and walked out. I felt light-headed, I ignored it and ran back to Jessie and the Head Mistress.

"We must hurry the rain storm is coming in fast and we don't have a lot of candles left." Miss Ade said as she handed me the lantern. I look at the flame, then I looked at how much wax was still able to burn. We walked for what felt like an hour. The candle went out, there was a lot of wax but nothing to keep it burning.

"What now?" I asked her as I let the lantern hang by my side. She placed Jessie on the ground so we could rest for a bit. Then I remembered a spell, "I have an idea." I placed my hand out in front of me-

"Violet no! Don't it's too dangerous I don't want you killed." Miss Ade said as she put my hand down.

"Don't worry I'm getting sleepy so it won't last long, besides I'll keep it low." I lifted my hand in front of me and concentrated. "Ignem ignes ignis absumet. Venite ad me mea calefacto corpore extrinsecus ignis fodit. Igne egredientur draconum, sic fiat semper.(One fire with fire. Come to me, my body is heated from the outside fire feet. Fire snakes, so it will always be.- English-)” A small single red flame formed in the center of my palm, I cupped it with my other hand from being blown out by the wind. "Ok, I'm ready let's go," I said as I stood back up and grabbed the lantern.
