It had been another boring day. I sat at the bar nursing the same drink for the past hour when my phone went off. It was dad.
"Hey dad what's up?"
"Maria was in an accident."
"Oh my God, what happened?"
"It's a long story but she was shot, it's touch and go, you should be here."
"I'm on my way."
"Oh and Justin?"
"Yeah dad?" I pressed the phone to my ear with my shoulder, pulling out a ten dollar bill, placing it under the drink and rushing out of the bar.
"You are a big brother." I could hear the smile in my fathers voice. I was a big brother. I always wanted a little sister. I really liked Maria. Oh God was my sister going to die before I got to know her?

I got to the hospital and rushed in and a nurse directed me to the waiting room where Dad grabbed me, bringing me into a big hug.
"How is she?" I asked after he released me.
"We still don't know. She's been in surgery for close to five hours."
"What happened?"
The unit filled me in on how Maria was out getting information on the streets - which meant she was beating people up, I knew that all too well. - When she found out that TT was the target, that she saved his life, jumping in front of a bullet for him. They filled me in about Dex and who she really was. My sister really was a bad ass. Damn, now I really really want to get to know her more.

"Family of Maria Kelly?" Doctor Rhodes came out.
"That's us." Dad said, everyone stood.
"There was an entrance wound, but no exit wound. The bullet had hit her stomach and liver, tearing both, she was bleeding internally and lost more than half her blood content when she got here. When we found the bullet, it was pressing against her lungs and that cause her to have a pheumothorax - which is a collection of free air in the chest cavity causing her lung to collapse. She flat lined for about twenty seconds before we got her back. We got the bullet out, and repaired both her stomach and liver. We are confident that she will make a full recovery."
Cheering broke out and some people hugged.
"Can we see her?" Dad asked.
"Yes, but she is sedated right now, but should be waking up soon. Only a few people at a time. Follow me."

TT, Jay Dad and I followed the Doctor. Antonio said he would see her when she woke up.
We walked into the room and pulled up chairs around her bed. Maria looked really pale. She was still sleeping but I didn't care. She was alive, that's all that matters. I will get to know my little sister. That's all that matters.
