I begged Maria to stand down. I knew she couldn't hear me. There was too much going on, all she could think was she needed to save TT, her blood was pumping too hard.
The popping sound of two guns firing at the same time ringing through the wire, and we were close enough to hear it from out of the van.
"Maria?" Antonio spoke into the ear piece. "Maria!?" Antonio yelled. She didn't answer.
"Maria? Maria?!" TT practically yelled.
We all sat in complete silence, hoping, praying to whatever God there was, she was okay.
"Are you okay?" Maria sounded like she was whispering.
Was she okay? Fear was ripping threw me, like it was tearing apart my insides.
"She's okay." Antonio whispered, I think he was trying to reassure himself that she was.
"One minute out." Hank said from the front seat. One minute sounded like a life time. Hank had already called for backup and an ambulance to meet us on scene. For that I was thankful.
"Why did you take a bullet for me?" TT whimpered.
"No." Antonio whispered and buried his head in his hands.
"Dammit." Hank smacked the steering wheel.
It could just be a light grazed, she can take a bullet and live, she will be okay.
"I couldn't let you die. Not for me. Are you okay?"
"Yes. Yes, I'm okay." From hearing TT's voice I knew he was trying to get her to relax, that he's okay, she did her job, he's safe. He was reassuring her.
That wasn't a good sign. Everyone seemed to pick that up. The air in the van became very charged and toxic.
"Good. Okay." Maria gurgled. "I love you." She sounded like it took every ounce of strength to get those words out.
"I love you. You're going to be okay. You're going to be okay. It's okay. I love you. It's okay." TT kept saying. Reassuring her. Can this van go any damn faster.
"Maria?" Shock filled TT's voice. Antonio and I stayed incredibly quite. "Open your eyes. Baby girl please? Open your eyes." TT begged. Crying. He was crying.
The van stopped and I didn't even wait, I threw the door open and booked it down to the docks. Hank and Antonio a step behind me. I turned around a container and dropped to my knees beside Maria. TT had Maria curled up in his lap, he was lightly rocking her. "No." I whispered, whimpering.
"Move." The paramedics pushed past us and grabbed Maria, hooking her up to monitors.
"Shocking. Clear." One of them said. We all backed away and watched Maria arch up from the electricity surging threw her body from the shock.
Nothing. Just a flat line on the monitor. "Asystole. Charging to two hundred. Clear." They shocked her again. Nothing. Hank turned around and held his face in his hands.
"Shocking three hundred. Clear." Once again Maria's body arched and fell back on the gurney after it was done. We all waited. It seemed like even the particles in the air where holding their breath. Still a line on the monitor. Beep. Beep. Beep. "We got a rhythm." The paramedic said.
We all let go of the breath we were holding. I couldn't believe it. Thank God. But she wasn't out of the woods yet. But she had a chance.
"We'll meet you at Med."

The drive to the hospital was long full and horrible, everyone was silent. No room for words over our fear and emotional state about Maria.
We got to the hospital at the same the same time as the ambulance. The three of us jogged over to the group wheeling Maria into the Emergency Room.
Maria looked so pale, like someone wiped white face paint all over her like a clown, or a vampire. Her face was white, but everything below was covered in dark red, soaked in blood. It was a sight that couldn't have made me pass out if I didn't hear the monitors telling me she was breathing and her beat was beating.
Maggie addressed Maria.
Maria Lily Kelly, seventeen, single GSW to the abdomen. Trauma two with Doctor Choi, Dr. Rhodes, and Dr. Halstead.
I grabbed Will by the arm. "Save her. I think I am in love with her."
"I will do everything in my power brother." Will padded my shoulder and ran into the room Maria was taken into. I nodded once and we were escorted to the waiting room while they rushed Maria into emergency surgery.
"What happened?" Hank asked sitting beside TT. He explained that someone had made him believe a shipment was coming in for him, he had no idea Dex had set it up as a trap to kill him.  That he didn't bring a weapon and before he could do anything someone jumped in front of him, taking the bullet and putting Dex down like the dog he was. TT hadn't known it was Maria until she shifted onto her back and he pulled her to him. I couldn't begin to fathom. I didn't want to. Poor TT was shaking like a leaf.
I felt for the guy. Drug Lord or not. He cared about Maria on such a level, she really was everything to him.

After two hours of waiting the rest of the Unit came to wait and Will came out.
"Hey guys."
"What's happening?" I asked.
"She's touch and go, the bullet is lodged and they're working on getting it out. It'll still be hours. But I did get the results on the paternity test."
"Well?" Hank asked. "Who is the dad?"
"Congratulations Hank, it's a girl." Will said.
"She's my daughter?" Hank asked smiling.
"She is. I gotta get back. I'll keep you all updated." Will said and left.
"Antonio I know how much you wanted her to be your daughter, I'm sorry." Hank said hugging him. I knew Antonio really wanted her to be his, you could see it in his eyes every time he saw her. I hope that just because Maria's is Hank's biological daughter, she has a close relationship with Antonio.
"It's okay. I'll just have to settle for being her best friend, but I still want to be in her life."
"Absolutely, I think she will like that."

Waiting was killing me.
