Loki, or Thanos in Loki's body, shot up with wide yellow eyes, switching back to green. He looked as if he were struggling against another being in his head. Like a monster trying to claw his way out. Thanos flopped back down, eyes fully yellow. He smiled evily and looked at Loki's parents. "No, not your son."
"Leave him alone, Thanos." Odin defended.
Thanos got up and circled around the king. "Oh, but why? I'm having fun. Or should I say, I've been having fun."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sif asked, sword ready to go.
Thanos smirked, turning to look at her. "You see, for the past year I have been having fun with my little runt-"
"Wait! A year!? It's been a month!" Natasha said, hovering over the unconscious archer.
"Time is different in your realm. It was a mere month here. I had fun for a year. Oh and, Thor." He turned to face Thor. "Oh, how he called out to you. It's funny."
Thor growled, hammer in hand. "Leave him."
"No." Thanos simply replied.
"How are you even in there?" Steve asked, gesturing to Loki.
"You want to know how I get stronger? How my Chituari get stronger?" No one replied, knowing he would tell them anyway. "We feed off of pain, suffering, death. You're all so blind." He whipped around to Astryd. "Except you. You disgust me."
"And you disgust me." She replied proudly.
Thanos chuckled. "You were his hope. When the darkness threatened to take him in, to engulf him. You were his hope. He always knew he had to fight for you." Thanos suddenly got defensive, striding closer to her. "I'm going to make him kill you, slowly and intimately," Natasha gasped, standing up, knowing now where Loki got that from. "And in every way he knows you fear. And when he's done seeing his good work," He stopped looking at Natasha.
She swallowed heavily and closed her eyes, guilt clear on her face. "You'll split his skull." She whispered.
Thanos chuckled again, a smirk plastered on his face. He looked back at Astryd, who was wide eyed and trembling slightly. "We'll meet again." He whispered in her ear.
Loki's eyes changed back to green as he gasped and took a hold of Astryd's shoulders to keep balance. He said, almost immediately, "I won't let that happen..."
She smiled as tears welled in her eyes. She cupped his face and brought him in for a kiss. Loki seemed shocked at first, but went along, not that ye had a choice. This woman enhanced him.
The Queen and king held each other's hand while watching, thinking of when they were young. The Avengers watched with confusion and happiness at the same time. Sif and the Warriors Three were absolutely bemused. Sif had let go of her sword, just watching. Heimdall had a genuine smile on his face. Oh how he watched the young prince grow. And fall in love.
Loki and Astryd finally parted and the first thing she said was, "A year?"
Loki rested his forehead on hers, breathing rapidly. "Yes," He struggled out.
Astryd ran her fingers through his hair on the back of his head. "Can I speak with you? Alone?" She asked, looking towards their 'audience'. Loki looked towards them too as they nodded in understanding and began to exit. "Wait. I want Thor and y'alls parents to stay." She said as Thor, the king, and queen made their way towards them. "Maybe we should sit on the couch, Loki close to me."
They all obliged, genuinely confused.
"What's this about, sweetheart?" Frigga asked.
"I want Loki to tell us what happened."
"What?" Loki asked, head shooting up. He began nodding frantically. "No."
"Sh, just tell us." She pleaded, holding Loki's hand.
"My, son." Odin began. "It would be easier if we knew what you endured."
"We only want to help." Thor said.
Loki seemed calmer and nodded. Then he began explaining. "Each month was something new. I... I guess I can start from the beginning, or after Thanos gave me the serum."
*Flashback*
Loki was chained to the stoned wall again. Thanos had just given him the serum and 'tested' it. He had covered his back in some sort of nail that had to be hammered in. "Just like your brother." Thanos had said.
It worked.
How is Loki supposed to feel about this? He doesn't even know. He knew his healing magic was always... better than any other, but... now... no matter how deep, how infected, how bad thy wound is... it heals. All he wants is to die. But he can't. And not just because of the serum, but because of Astryd. He has to fight for her. Only her. Then, when he is reunited with her, he can tell her how he fought. How he fought for her. He loves her. He does!
He heard a creak and his cell door opened. The Other appeared, a smirk plastered on his deformed face. "Now, we have fun." He cooed.
Loki let his head hang limply, hair covering his face. "Damn you..." he whispered.
The Other jerked himself towards the broken god and grabbed his chin and forced his head up. "Silence! No one cares for your voice. You speak when given permission too." His voice sliced into the god. So much hatred.
The Other grabbed Loki's head and slammed it backwards with a loud crack.
Darkness swallowed Loki into His stomach.
*End flashback*
"So, what did he do?" Thor asked sadly, heart clenching for his brother.
Loki's eyes drooped in a very tired state. "Can we please continue later? I am so tired, Thor. I just want to sleep without being afraid too." Loki pleaded, grabbing onto Thor's sleeve.
Thor, as well as the king, queen, and Astryd, blinked at the weakened, broken state of Loki. Thor nodded sadly. "Of course, brother."
Loki smiled warmly and leaned into Astryd. She held him until they all fell asleep on the couch.
