After they watched all the Harry Potter movies they all went to bed. Loki left for bed earlier than everyone else. He didn't feel good, other than that damned wound in his stomach. He felt... so tired. Thor had gone with him to make sure he didn't sleep. Loki wasn't really sure why. Thanos? Loki himself? He knew Thanos was trying to fill his head with these... images to drive him mad. But... Loki wanted it to end. What does he have to fight for?

He knew the answer.

Astryd.

He loved her. For a long time he wandered what that feeling was. It annoyed him that he didn't know. He felt this warming passion when he saw her. Their first kiss was... magical.

Loki laughed at that.

How ironic. He needed his magic now. He didn't even want it. He wanted this pain. It's no more than he deserved. Damn this awful... quilt!

Loki and Thor sat at a table, Loki leaning on his elbow, head resting on his fist. Thor seemed to keep his eye on his brother. Loki's eyes began to droop, his head sagging. "Loki." Thor said, sitting straighter in his chair. Loki didn't respond. "Loki!" Thor said a little louder.

Loki jumped, eyes wide. "What?" He asked dismissively. He looked at the clock on the wall. 3:47 am. Damn.

"Brother, what if we talked?" Thor suggested.

Loki gave Thor a blank look. "Shut up, Thor."

Thor nodded, murmuring an "okay". He seemed to get the message.

Loki looked up at Thor. "You know what? Yes, let's talk."

"Why sound so defensive?"

"Because I am. I have questions. A lot of questions."

"Okay, what?"

"Let's start from the beginning. Why did everyone believe I wanted to kill Father? While you were exiled."

"I do not understand. Where is this coming from?"

"Just answer." Loki said, now leaning on his knees, wincing on his way down. "Please, Thor." He begged, sounding sad.

Thor thought a moment. Why did they? "I do not know. I have a question too." Loki nodded, urging him to ask. "Why did you send the destroyer? I died, why would you kill me?"

"I knew you wouldn't die." Loki mumbled.

"I did die."

"I knew, as soon as you sacrificed yourself for those humans, and that woman, Jane I think. I knew you would be worthy. I heard Father that day. Whoever holds your hammer has the power of Thor. Whoever is worthy has the power of Thor."

"Did you know that would happen? That I would sacrifice myself?"

Loki looked down. "I hoped. I prayed by the Norns for it to be. And it did." Loki paused, Thor nodding. "I was trying to make you the king you were made to be. Like I said, I never wanted the throne."

Thor nodded in understanding. "But, you wanted to be my equal. I hate to say it, but I never understood that."

"The people loved you, Thor." Loki whispered suddenly. "People looked up to you. People laughed at me. I have always been different."

"The people liked you, brother. What do you speak of?"

"Really?" Loki asked sarcastically. "Thor, if they did, your friends would not have thought me to betray Asgard when you were exiled. When they saw me on the throne, they thought I killed Odin. Mother made me king. I didn't want to. I had no choice." Thor noticed a tear escape Loki's eyes. "I had... I'm sorry..."

"What?"

"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I killed you. I'm sorry I threatened Jane..." Loki sobbed. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry I destroyed all of New York, Manhattan. I'm..." Loki began sniffling.

Thor got out of his seat, walking towards his brother. He knelt down and embraced him. Loki seemed unsure of what to do, but after some time he cringed into the body holding him. He cried on his shoulder for nearly an hour before feeling a tingle surge through his body. He twitched. Thor seemed to let go of his brother, holding his shoulders.

Loki felt the tingle again. Except that one burned. "Thor... I think... ahh!" Loki yelped as he felt it again. He knew this feeling. The same feeling he felt when his father took his magic away. Is it coming back? Did Odin actually allow it?

Loki fell out of the chair onto his back, struggling to stop trembling. "Loki!" Thor yelled. "What's wrong?"

"My-My... Magic... ahh!" He yelled again. He felt that burning for almost forty-five more seconds. He calmed down, letting Thor help him sit up. Loki almost smiled when he felt no pain in his stomach. He pulled up his shirt to reveal nothing but pale skin. Thor smiled, Loki seemed confused, but smiled eventually.

"Brother, Father did it." Thor exclaimed.

Loki laughed in relief. "Yes. He did."

. . .

Thanos sat on his throne, the Other kneeling at his feet. "You know the plan, Other?"

"Yes, my lord."

"Good. Now, bring Loki to me. And his precious woman." Thanos chuckled evily.

Sadly that's all I got. Next chapter, the story actually begins. Not even close to finished. :)
