Chapter 16

           The girl was going to be okay but the cops had to ask Issac, Stasia and his new friend questions.

Stasia was explaining to the cops what she saw happen.

"So Issac and Newton were talking as I was coming back from the bathroom. Then that girl was crying about her ex boyfriend who cheated on her with her best friend. She grabbed a bottle broke it and began to use the shards to cut herself. Issac and Newton tried to stop her but she fell and got blood on them" She explains.

They continue to ask them questions while Ryan comforts me. The party's officially ended and told people to leave or they'd get us to call our parents.

"Josie come on I'll walk you home" Ryan tells me but then I stop and remember that Dylan was staying behind.

"Actually you head home I'm going to wait for Dylan his brother would have my head if anything happens to him" I tell him and he takes my hand.

"No it's fine I'll stay" I tell him and then gives me a hug and tells me to text him when I get back home.

           Waiting for the cops to finish investigating got boring quick so I waited outside. I checked the time I needed to be home soon or I'd be in trouble.

I see Dylan shaking as he walks out of the house.

"Dylan what's wrong?" I ask.

"Seeing her arms it was all too much I.. I can't" I then get up and grab him.

"Dylan it's okay I'm going to take you home alright come on" I say and we begin to walk to his house.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have forced you to go"

"No actually I had a somewhat good time I mean we're both insects" he says and we both laugh.

"Josie I'm really sorry about my pan- my attacks it's just I'm such a fuck up" he says as we stand outside his house.

"Dylan stop you're more than you think and you have to know that" I say and without thinking I grab hoodie sleeve that's apart of his costume and pull them up.

"Josie please stop" he says but I don't listen.

"Even if you think no one cares I do okay to so if you think you have no one you'll always have me " I say and then hug him and for once he hugs me back.

Then I feel my clothes get wet and I realize he's crying. Now I felt bad cause I took advantage of looking at his scars.

"You're going to be okay I promise" I say and then we pull apart and he stops crying.

"I can't Josie I can't pretend like everything is okay when it's not" he tells me.

"What's not okay your dad got a job and your mom is going to find one as well" I say and he backs up.

"I gotta go" he says and runs inside leaving me with questions what wasn't okay.

I continue to walk down and felt relieved when Stasia told me the cops let her go and didn't even call her mom. I made it home with 10 minutes to spare and was ready to eat all my candy.

But then my brother came into my room and stole all my jolly ranchers.

Fuck him.

I fell asleep in my costume and had to wake up early so I could shower. It was the first day of November and all I was looking forward to was Thanksgiving.

"Josie come on or you're going to have to take the bus" my dad warns and hurry downstairs and grab a yogurt and get in the car.

I had my science project with me it was a model of Earth's layers. Davina just baked a cake while Scott made a cardboard presentation.

I got an A so that was the highlight of my day so far. Then I headed to lunch and Issac told me that Dylan felt sick and had to go home early.

I decided to sit with Ryan after hearing that news. I told him about my good grade and he celebrates by taking Yasmin's ice cream sandwich she just brought and gave it to me.

"Ryan give it back you cunt" she says and I give it back to her and he shakes his head.

"Where's Scott?" Lucy asks.

"He has to stay home he was too sick to go to school" Yasmin explains.

The school day ends and as I wait for my brother this girl walks up to me.

"Hey you're Josie right"

"Yeah who's asking?" I say curious to why this stranger needed to know me.

"I'm Nina and I wanted to know if you and Ryan were dating?"

Even though we weren't I wasn't going to let this girl who's so much prettier than me steal him.

"We a have a thing" I politely say and my brother pulls up.

"For now" she adds as I get in the car too bad my brother drove off before I could give her an earful.
