Silence

Chapter 36

           Sunday afternoon I'm clearing space on my phone and backing up stuff to my laptop. My wall background was a picture of Isaac and Stasia laughing. One day I would need to update the picture and include Dylan in it.

Later I was going to see the Bumblebee movie with Ryan, Scott, and Yasmin. I needed to decide what to wear I was hoping Ryan would bring a sweatshirt that I could wear. But I obviously couldn't tell him that the guy is always supposed to make the first move. 

I had never seen a Transformer movie so I hoped I could understand this movie. Scott's sister was going to pick us up I always wanted to meet her. Apparently, she worked as a helper for kids with disabilities. Which was nice I was going to ask if she knew Martin or Lena.

But I still needed something to wear as I then texted Stasia and she told me to go with a dark pink top. It was cute and was kind of like a crop top so I went along with it and some dark jeans. My brother made fun of me and told me that I'm never in the house.

"She's a teenager I was always with my friends when I was her age," my mom says defending me.

"Yeah it's not my fault you don't have any," I say and he flicks me off and my mom scolds him.

"Josie you remember your curfew," my dad says and I nod my head.

"9 o clock," I say and my mom nudges him.

"Fine since you're going to be with an adult 10 but remember to text us, " my dad says and I give him and my mom a hug and rolls my eyes at my brother. 

           Scott's sister pulls ups and then she says hi and since Yasmin sitting in the passenger seat I would have to sit next to Ryan with Scott on the other side of him. They're both laughing and then Ryan looks at me and smiles. 

"I'm Valentino by the way" she says introducing herself and waving to my parents.

"Josie I thought we agreed Ryan's mine" Scott jokes and I stick out my tongue and then look at Ryan who laughs. He wasn't wearing a sweatshirt so I'd have to be cold.

"Josie we should make out," Scott says and Yasmin turns around and hits him and winces in pain.

"You're so dumb," his sister says and we all laugh as she continues to drive and play some interesting music. His sister was a latina girl I didn't want to assume that she or Scott was adopted since I'd never seen his parents.

"So was life easier without that goofball?" Yasmin asks and his sister laughs.

"Well it was just me my mom and my dad but then they wanted another kid so they did the dirty stuff and had him" answering my question.

"In case any of you are wondering my mom is Latina and my dad is Caxcan and she loves to tan," Scott says and his sister whispers something into Yasmin's ear. 

"I'm not surprised," she says giggling while Scott rolls his eyes.

           When we pull up to movie theater his sister walks off while we buy the tickets she comes back with food. 

"I got popcorn and I'm ready when you're ready" and we all nod and walk into the theater as she then walks out to pick up a call.

"Probably her girlfriend calling," Scott says and I'm confused she's lesbian I would've never guessed.

"Damn I forgot she had that hot girlfriend what was her name again Nancy or something," Ryan says and Scott nods.

"Her last boyfriend was such a dick," he says and I'm confused what is her sexuality.

"She's bisexual," Yasmin says answering my questions as Valentino walks back in and takes her seat and turns off her phone. She was a big mood when she hit Scott and made him give her popcorn. I was sitting next to Ryan who had barely said a word to me all day which made me a little sad. 

I looked at him during the previews and he then looked at me and smiled and asked me if  I was okay. I nodded and then when the movie started he grabbed my hand and held it and I felt butterflies. When the movie ends I had teared up a bit and Ryan noticed and wiped them and then we held hands as we walked out.

"Wait so you and Josie are actually dating?" Scott asks and Ryan looks at me and I nod.

"I don't want everyone to know though so you guys better not tell anyone," I say pointing at both Yasmin and Scott.

Valentino takes our picture in front of the theater and then takes me and Yasmin's pictures while Scott and Ryan are play fighting. 

"Josie we should hang out more" Yasmin says as we sit down on our phones at Steak N Shake.

"What about us," Ryan says and I laugh.

"Go hang out with each other" Yasmin says as Scott gives her a kiss. I wanted a relationship like theirs but the thing is I didn't want my relationship to be everyone's main focus. 

Besides, I don't like the idea of people trying to come after me just for dating someone. I remember when I was in 8th grade and I liked a guy and when others found out and purposely started liking the guy.  A bunch of 7th graders kept interrupting me and the guy whenever I got a second to talk to him. 

           After they brought us our food we all talked about winter break and our plans. I told Ryan that I couldn't hang out after the 23rd. I wanted to spend the rest of Winter break with my family and watch Christmas movies in my pajamas and eat snickerdoodles. I already started watching Christmas themed episodes of my favorite shows.

"I'm going to going to Canada for Christmas and then to New York for new years," Yasmin tells us as she begins to drink her milkshake. 

"Well I'm staying home," Scott says and then makes the face in which he comes to a realization.

"I'm staying home and I'm playing Fortnite," he says and Ryan laughs as they high five. Valentino huffs and tells us that she and her girlfriend broke up.

"Oh well I heard she had been talking other people and I'm not going to put up with that anymore," she says calmly and counts her money. 

           Ryan walks me to my door and he kisses my cheek but I decide to kiss him on the lips shocking him. When we pull apart he winks and then walks into the car as everyone says goodbye. 

I was ready for winter break to come sooner.
