Taeil stopped the car in front of the coastal guards' house in the harbour, two patrol boats were ready the moment they reached the pier. Ella noticed Doyoung and his father when she went out.

"Taeil I'm going with you," she said grabbing his sleeve.

"No Ella, no way it's dangerous out there," he looked at her.

"I will not stay here and wait," she was still keeping his stare.

"But?" Taeil lowered his head.

"Taeil!" said Mr. Kim so they walked his way.

"Ella?" muttered Doyoung noticing her.

"This is Ella my... my assistant," said Taeil not looking at her.

"You can choose any boat you like from my boats," muttered Mr. Kim so Taeil walked along the piers when Ella started shivering from cold. The lamps in front of the building made the space around them little visible, but the lake was covered by some milky darkness.

"Here, it's a signal lamp hold it so we can see your boat coming." said Doyoung giving her a bigger torch.

"Thank you," she pulled the hood of Taeil's jacket tighter over her head as it was freezing.

"I'm taking 'Rosemary'," said Taeil coming back the moment he appeared out of the fog Ella's tension lifted a bit. "What information do you have about them?" asked Taeil.

"They took a single motor boat, went out around 5:30, the last time someone had seen them was in sector 259 at 8:17," said a man rolling out a lake map in front of them.

Taeil scanned it for longer than looked at the men seriously.

"They're in sector 232 or 233 by now, the wind is coming from the west."

"There's on way I'll risk my boats in sector 232 or 233," said Mr. Kim.

"So wait in sector 332, I'll go out there," muttered Taeil.

"Ok, let's move," they walked down the pier so Ella followed Taeil.

"Ella good luck our there!" she turned around to see Doyoung smiling to her in a faint way.

"Thank you," she muttered then left behind Taeil quickly, she needed to be careful on the slippery pier but soon they reached a fast motorboat, Taeil jumped inside, he stretched his hand out to help her climb in.

"I have this," she showed him the torch.

"Perfect, you will sit on the back bench when I'll tell you, you'll lift the light up and hold it ok?"

"Ok," Ella trembled.

What was she doing out here risking her life for him, or for the thrill.

Taeil's boat radio crackled.

"Patrol 1 to Rosemary we're leaving pier 70."

"Rosemary leaving pier 61," Taeil turned the motor on when Ella sat down on the back keeping the torch in her hands.

They moved out into the fog, the boat was moving slowly the big lights of the two patrol ships coming through the milky surface.

Taeil was speaking through the raido guididng the boat further and further into the darkness. It felt like being inside some strange reality, when the two lights disappeared, they had been left in cold sticky fog that was circling around the boat.

"Rosemary to Patrol 1, check if the road is free," said Taeil.

"Everyone's in the harbour were the only ones out no worries," came the voice of Mr. Kim.

"Hold on Ella we will speed it up," said Taeil so she grabbed a handgrip when the boat gained speed the wet fog became icy when it started to collide with her cheeks.

She was holding on as the boat was jumping the on the waves although the lake was calm.

"We're making a turn lean right!" commanded Taeil so she did while the boat moved into a very sharp curve.

She had no idea how Taeil knew where he was out there, it was the same sickening darkness around them all the time. She sat up hoping they will find the missing people.

The were racing for over fifteen minutes when Taeil slowed the boat down soon the lights of the two ships behind them appeared giving her a reality check, she had lost the feeling of space a long time ago.

"Rosemary is preparing to go into sector 232," said Taeil when the boat moved slower and slower till the engine stopped.

"What now?" asked Ella.

"Move the light up and hold it, send five signals into each direction," said Taeil.

"Where is a diction here?" she asked scared.

"This way is north, south right behind you, west on your left and east on yore right, we're drifting towards the mountain wall, we will go into the middle of the sector then move back to the border and drift half a mile up from this place, we will continue until the whole sector is checked ok," he said.

"Ok," Ella sat up turning the torch on, she lifted it pointing it right in front of her, she was counting the red signals, five, she changed direction.

It was a slow and quiet ride, her hand began to ache so she placed the torch in her other palm, she hoped it will end soon won't last the whole night, she hoped the fog will disappear she was sick of it.

"Ok you can rest you arms a little we're moving up," Taeil started the engine the boat moved forward then it slowed down again, the crazy signal play continued, the only sound the waves hitting Rosemary.

"I'd love to have a boat like this one day," said Taeil so she looked up at him. "Once you get too tired I'll change you ok," he pointed at her arm.

"Concentrate on the way," she said.

"Mr. Kim is a lucky man he has the money to own so many amazing boats," Taeil sighed.

Ella tried to rest her elbow on the barrier counting the signals when she saw something like a lantern light in the fog.

"Taeil there's a light!" she shouted.

"Taeil there's a light!" she shouted
