Yuta's soft voice was all over the loudspeakers when Ella was watching the beautiful architecture behind the windows, the bouquet firmly squeezed in her palm.
"Are you a bride?" Asked the taxi driver. "Or are you a bride on the run?"
"I don't know yet." She felt blushes.
Who was waiting for her there? She couldn't guess, she was trying to picture Jaehyun in a tuxedo but failed, his image replaced by just Yuta and Sicheng telling her it has been a prank and it was actually them getting married.
"It's right there, through the alley you can't get lost, the Eiffel Tower is visible from anywhere here." The driver stopped next to a pavement.
"Thank you a lot." She handed the money his way.
"Who is the lucky man?" He grinned.
"I don't know yet," Ella sighed.
"Anyway good luck, I hope he's your only one." The driver shook his head.
"I hope so too." Ella closed the door walking out onto the dusty alley, her heart beating like crazy.
Was she insane to agree to come here for a blind wedding, the girl who has been playing on the safe side all her life was suddenly ready to jump off a cliff without any insurance, just fall into her adventure. She needed to walk fast as walking slow wasn't an option anymore the Eiffel Tower nearing so she just crossed the lawn receiving curious glances from tourists.
"Ella here!" It was Gian waiting for her in some distance so she took all her courage together approaching.
"What is this?" She asked but he just smiled leading her towards a platform with a magnificent view on the aisle like alleys leading to the tower.
There was a small crowd there standing close to a flower arch. Yuta and Sicheng were cuddling, both turning towards her sending her confident smiles. There was also Johnny and Antonio and Mark who was really red when him and Donghyuck were holding hands. Ella's heart began to beat even faster, have the two finally confessed.
"Hi Ella," she turned to see Jaehyun who was wearing an ordinary suit, no tuxedo while walking to her.
She took a long breath in.
"I hope you'll have a beautiful ceremony." He said offering her his arm.
Ella looked back over the lawn and the alleys telling herself off, has there been a wince of disappointment inside her, has she actually expected someone else?
All stupid memories coming back to her one by one. Her in junior high storming out of biology class after failing a test miserably seeing him talking with some boys at the lockers. Their eyes meeting for the very first time. Him standing on her doorstep with a bunch of meadow flowers from Rose Bay asking her to go to prom with him, them dancing in the school gym, him taking her hand telling her 'It will be ok, I promise I'll stay with you till my last day, but only if you want to' before they ran out of her parents' house her father running behind them, kicking the pickup yelling all possible curse words at her. Them out on the lake in the fog, the smell of morning coffee, the coffee tasking first kiss. Him saying goodbye on her lips, after break up.
Was she really ready to close all of this here and now and start a new life with a man who had stayed to wait for the police when Yuta and Sicheng needed him the most. Who was too blinded by mercy or attraction to see who Taeyong was, who just packed his bags and left for Hawaii when Yuta was in hospital struggling day by day to find his voice back.
"Lead." Whispered Ella taking his arm with a heavy heart.
They started to walk but she stopped so suddenly.
"Jaehyun I can't. I'm sorry but I can't. It's just, we're too different, it doesn't match, besides there's someone... who I love, it's just he doesn't love me." She felt a tear rolling down her cheek. "I came to point when I think being alone is ok, so I'll stay single."
