Animal socks^
Christmas is finally here and I can't wait to see what I got for Christmas. Speaking of Christmas yesterday my necklace arrived and I put it on immediately having felt naked without it. It's so weird to be without it because it always feels like a part of me is missing when I take it off.
Earlier this week I had begged my mother to take me shopping so that I could get stuff to give my friends when I head back to school and I hope they like them. I also got a few of my cousins something like a cute little purse for Maya and a stuffed dog for Nala.
We had a big breakfast this morning and as soon as we had finished we rushed out to the living room. Now we are all sitting around the tree waiting for when we can open our presents. As soon as we get the Okay we dive in looking for all the ones with our name on them. I have quite a few and decide to just not pay attention to what the others are opening.
My first present is cat toy for Penelope from Uncle Roger and his family. They probably only went with that because they are the family we are most distant from. But the cute little attached card Tod had made is absolutely adorable and I will treasure it forever.
Next are three books from Aunt Katie and her family, she had probably seen me reading the Death Eaters book and thought of getting me books. I mean I do like to read books but not all the time and only those that really interest me.
Next was a...a yellow and black striped scarf. I can't help but turn to grandma and smile happily at her. She had asked me a lot about Hogwarts and I explained the house system and she asked about the one I was in. I can totally wear this scarf at school especially sense it's still going to be cold and snowy when I go back after holiday. "Thanks Grandma!" I say happily before turing back around.
"Serry, look what momma and papa got me," Tod says walking over to me and plopping down in my lap while holding a medium sized airplane. He makes little noises as he makes it fly above his head.
"Yes, it's very cool," I say chuckling at how adorable he is and continue to open my presents around him. My next present is a box full of adorable, colorful animal socks that go all the way to my thighs. They're from my mom and dad, and I absolutely love them. I am so planning on wearing them with my robes it may look a bit weird but they will definitely keep my legs warm with my skirts.
It continues like this until every last one of the presents are opened and I make sure to keep mine in a pile away from the others so they don't mix. Everyone spends some time whether flipping through a book, coloring in a new coloring book, entering a gift card into their phone, and observing the happy faces of everyone, the last one is me.
We eventually settle down at the dining table when dinner is soon served, a large roasted turkey and mash potatoes and everything good. I can't help but dig in and talk with family members who I haven't talked to much over the last week and a half. It's so nice to be with everyone and to laugh at funny jokes that Uncle Austin and Uncle Andrew say. Even Bianca and Trisha put their phones down and join in the conversations.
Though there are a lot of cons to all of us getting together in one house and spending Christmas together this has been the best Christmas ever.
But my favorite thing that we do is later at night. When we all snuggle up on the couches in the movie room with hot coco, popcorn, and candy canes and watch Christmas movies as a family. It was nice to all be together yet it be quiet and nice. There was no fighting, no phones, no puking, and no crying, well a little crying. In the middle of the movie Penelope wanders in and lays on my lap making the family truly complete.
Before I know it our time at grandma's house is over and we need to head back home so I can pa k before I head back to school. We are standing at the front door as our bags are being loaded into the trunk and Penelope is in her carrier by my feet.
"I'm going to miss you so much!" Maya says pulling me into an extremely tight hug. "Please don't let this time apart turn into such a long time, we need to make sure we see each other soon."
"You know what would be so cool, is if you came to visit during the summer," I gasp pulling away and grabbing her shoulders happily, it would be so much fun.
"That would be so cool I would just have to ask my dad," She says smiling as we hug again and then I move onto my next family member. Eventually I con to Tod and he seems like his eyes are tearing up.
"I don't want you to go," He says in a sad voice with a little pout on his face.
"I know but you'll being going home soon as well I'm sure we'll see each other again. I'm just going to miss you so much," I say hugging him and start kissing his face all over making him laugh and squeal while trying to get away from me.
Last, but definitely not least, I come to my grandma and I can't help the tears that appear. "I'm going to miss you so much," I say sounding like I'm being strangled as I place my face in her shoulder.
"Oh, sweetheart I'll miss you as well just be sure to think about me every once in a while. Also have fun at that school of yours," She whispers in my ear and winks at me then her face lights up and she hurry's off. When she comes back she has a small box. "My sister gave this to me and I wanted you to have it." She opened the box to reveal an anklet with a bunch of little charms on it. "She charmed it to never rust so wear it all the time if you want," She whispers in my ear and kisses my cheek.
Not long after we're on the road headed back home and I decide to but the anklet on. It's nice to have something of grandma's with me to always remember her. This has been the best holiday ever!
