Woods' POV

Everything was falling apart in the back of Matt's car. I was falling apart. We we're speeding toward the hospital as fast as we could. Nobody was saying anything, there wasn't much to say anyways. Tanner and Paul were in an accident. Just thinking about it sent shivers down my spine and my stomach twisted up.

Gunner, Connor, and I were all in Matt's Tesla. He offered to drive considering he seemed the most stable. They said there weren't any emergency contacts in Tanner's phone, so they called the last person he texted. Thankfully that was Matt. I didn't want to imagine where we would be right now if they hadn't called him.

A long time passes before we reach the hospital. In reality it was only about ten minutes, but ten minutes feels like forever when you're worried about someone you love. What if he isn't okay? Bad thoughts were plaguing my mind and I noticed myself about to scratch into my skin again. Quickly, I stop and shove my hands in my pockets to help me resist.

Matt rushes to the reception desk and we all stand anxiously behind him. When he finally catches his breath he manages to get out, "Tanner Malmedal and Paul Kennedy, we're here to see them. They were in an accident," the guy at the desks types some things into the computer, presumably looking up their rooms.

"Yes sir, right here. Room C-13. Um," he paused taking time to look at each of us individually, "only one visitor is allowed in their room right now though." We all look around and silently agree Matt will be the one to go. The other guys and I go sit down in the waiting area. Anxiety was palpable in the air as we watched Matt disappear behind the double doors.

I feel a hand grab onto mine and I look over in confusion. Gunner is holding it and has tears streaming down his face. Immediately I empathized with him. This was more than just his best friend, Tanner was practically his brother. Hesitantly he lays his head on my shoulder and we just sit like that for a long time.

An hour or so passes before Matt comes back. Gunner is asleep on my shoulder and Connor is up pacing around. When he notices Matt's return he comes back over though. I carefully nudge Gunner awake, trying not to alarm him. Once we are all awake and attentive Matt begins talking.

"They're doing fine," a collective breath was released from all of us, "we can all go back to see them now. Tanner has a few stitches on his face from the glass, and Paul has broken arm. They both have a bunch of cuts and bruises, but the doctor said there wasn't anything too serious."

Gunner, who is still holding my hand, pulls me up to my feet and we follow Matt back to the room. Paul and Tanner were sat up in their beds. They had their pinkies interlocked to the best of their ability since the beds are separated. At first they don't notice us, and I feel like I'm intruding.

"God damnit Paul," Tanner chuckles, still oblivious to us, "will you be my boyfriend?" A small smile forms on Paul's lips and he nods his head yes. All of sudden I didn't want to be there. I was happy they were okay, but I'm not sure if I'm okay anymore. Should've known he wouldn't pick me. I'm worthless. I left the room before anybody even noticed.

A/N - sad bois. But hey, TANNER FINALLY FUCKING DID IT WITHOUT DYING. Also, short chapter. But...eh.
