Ch.34

Harley's pov

Carter walks through the door with Addi in his arms and my dad and Aj behind him.

Addi jumps out of Carter's grip and runs over to us.

I lift her up to see our mom.

"Mommy" she says quietly.

"Hi addi" my mom says.

My mom falls asleep after my dad leaves to take Addi home.

"I'm really thirsty, I'm gonna go to the drinking fountain. I'll be right back." I whisper for Aj and Carter to hear.

I let go off my mom's fragile hand and walk out the door. Carter follows me.

"Harley wait up" he says.

We walk to the drinking fountain and take a few sips. I hear a long beep noise coming from the direction of my mother's room.

I panic as we quickly run towards her room. A doctor is standing over her draping a white sheet over her body.

"NO" I cry out.

I try running towards her but I can't. I'm being held back by Carter and Aj.

I try with all my might to get to my mom but they won't budge.

"I'm sorry" the doctor says leaving the room and shutting the door.

She can't be dead. She just can't.

"Mom " I scream, tears streaming down my face. "Let me go" I cry and reach for her.

Aj lets go but Carter takes ahold of my arms so I can't move. Aj drags his feet to my mom's bed and kneels down.

"I'm going to miss you mom," Aj speaks softly "I will take care of Harley. I promise". A tear escapes his eye as he finishes

"Shhhh, it's okay." Carter cooes and pulls me to his chest.

I cry into Carter's warm torso then pull away. I fall to the ground to cry more. I pull my legs up to my chest and rock back and forth letting out loud cries.

"But I never got to say goodbye" I sob.
