Lucille Fitzgerald. With a name like that, she wasn't exactly inconspicuous. Her appearance did nothing to aid that. With her green leather jacket, clear, blue eyes and short, unruly, anthracite coloured hair, she certainly stood out in a crowd. The first time I met her however, she was alone, sitting on the roof of St Bart's. I'd started paying weekly visits to the roof, it was peaceful up there, isolated from the rest of the world. I'd never seen anyone but me. Her legs dangled off the ledge and she stared into the distance. An empty six pack rested beside her and she held the last bottle. "You know you could really hurt yourself, if you fell from there." I stated, sitting next to her. She turned to me, studying my features. "Well you would know." She replied, a humourless smile playing on her lips. "You know who I am then, I take it." She raised an eyebrow.
"What a deduction. Next you'll tell me about how we're sitting on a rooftop or the fact that it's day." She smiled mockingly and I frowned at her brashness, before turning to the horizon. "So you know my name but I don't know yours. I'd say that puts me at a disadvantage wouldn't you ?" I waited for the witty response but turned to her when there was no reply. She took a long sip from her beer and I studied her carefully. She stared at the streets below, her face expressionless.
Cat, Siamese
Alcoholic
Secrets
Liar
Loner
No relatives
One roommate
The deductions came easily and I reached an arm out to restrain her as she leaned over the edge. "You could fall." She laughed dryly.
"Who would care ?" She asked bitterly. I frowned, turning to her. "Your roommate ? Or your cat, Siamese cats tend to bond very strongly with one person and considering the number of hairs on your clothes, and the fact that the Siamese breed does not shed a lot, I'd say that person was you." She nodded in acknowledgment. "You really are as good as they say." I smiled slightly before looking at the sky. "Tell me something I don't already know." She smirked for jumping off the ledge. "My name." I whipped my head around, but she was gone. I looked around in confusion. She was gone, left without any trace.
