So I just finished watching "The Endless Summer," and it was pretty interesting. I don't surf or anything, but I do enjoy a good beach aesthetic.
It came out in 1966, and the narrator (who was also the director and cameraman, as far as I know) was pretty funny. He didn't have that scarily deep voice most old movie narrators had either; it was very upbeat and engaging. The movie has a documentary type style, as it just follows a couple of surfers going around the world to find good surf spots, but it also has a home movie type quality. It was pretty neat to watch (even if I started to drift off towards the end), and the scenery was beautiful. They were in Hawaii, Australia, various countries of Africa, Tahiti, New Zealand, and California. Between their surfing skills and their nice interactions with the local people, I feel like they were pretty cool dudes, even if you only ever hear the narrator.
I just felt like I should share that. I think it's something nice to watch just to refresh from all the dramatic movies and shows I usually watch. It's a pretty mellow movie, and it's a good way to just really relax. Just watch some guys surf for over an hour. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Endless Summer," and I feel like maybe I could put it out there as a recommendation for anyone looking for something else (and not necessarily new) to watch .
