Most demigods end up dying young.

Nico di Angelo experienced that with heartbreak clouding his judgment.

Him and his girlfriend, ____, were doing some training in a safe zone in the Underworld.

Out of nowhere came a rogue hellhound, nothing like the gentle Mrs. O'Leary that ____ was used to.

The creature clenched its jaws around her stomach, and shook her around like a chew toy.

It absolutely broke Nico's heart, mind, and soul. He screamed, stabbing the hellhound until it disintegrated. He picked up ____'s lifeless body, and held her close, sobbing into her hair.

"I'm so, so sorry...." He kept mumbling over and over again, not even attempting to bring back her soul.

He set her body down, and began a killing spree through the Underworld.
