Cain went deep into the forest while trying to remember what way the river was. He wanted to stay close to a source of water, and he was sure animals or maybe monsters need water so even if he didn't find any deep in the forest he could always go back to the water.

"This is weird though... it's like this part of the forest is empty... except that bear from yesterday, even then it ended up leaving too." (Cain)

Cain continued farther into the forest trying to find where the animals had gone.

[Hello! I hope this reaches the reincarnated well.]

Huh? (Cain)

Cain looked around for the person talking.

[There were some issues that I had to take care of and could not explain your situation until now, I apologize.]

"It's in my head?" (Cain)

He stopped looking around and instead focused on the voice he was hearing. It was a female voice so Cain figured it was a goddess that reincarnated him.

That's how these things work right? A god gives you a second life on another world. Though most the time it's the gods fault you died or something else right? (Cain)

[Let me get down to business. I have reincarnated a few of you people from a world called "Earth" the requirement is that you had to accomplish something significantly good in your other life, and were on the verge of death, or dead. I have given the reincarnated a way to interpret this world, something you all are familiar with. An ability to interpret your skills, ability, stats and level as a sort of game. This way you can easily understand what you have and what you can do. This world is much different from the one you know, but please realize that this is still real life. Now, struggle, gain strength and every 30 days I will hold a competition. The winner of the competition will get one wish that is in my ability to grant, be prepared.]

"What? Really? This isn't at all how it normally goes..." (Cain)

All the new information made Cain's head spin. Either way he would gain strength so he could survive, having one hp and one everything else would not get him far.... right?

He sighed and gripped his weapons tighter.

"My goal still doesn't change." (Cain)

He continued his search.

I just don't get it, how is there only one bear in a forest? And even that ended up leaving for some reason! (Cain)

Sighing, he emerged into a clearing.

He now knew why there were no animals in the forest.

What he saw was a massive black dragon.

Of course this happens! Just my luck to run into an end game boss with my stats at fucking one. (Cain)

He took a closer look and saw that it's head was tucked away, maybe it was sleeping.

He decided to slowly walk around to check it out more.

I know I should be running but... I'm sure if this dragon wanted me dead I would be dead, Plus I'm already leaving my scent here. (Cain)

Once he was all the way to the right of the dragon he saw a pool of blood.

"Wha..." (Cain)

What could possibly do this to a dragon? (Cain)

At the sound of Cain's voice the dragon rose it's head up, mouth open and snapped them shut close to Cain's head.

Sweat poured down Cain's back. He looked into the eyes of the dragon and gasped. They were a dark grey and he could tell there was so much intelligence behind them, once you get past all the pain they showed.

"I-" (Cain)

Before Cain could get any more out the dragon growled once again.

He knew it was a warning to him, He knew that the dragon wanted him gone. Obviously the dragon was in pain and needed to heal it's wounds, how could the dragon know if Cain was a threat of not?

I guess I won't speak... but what should I do? I'm sure that if I finished the dragon off I would level up like crazy. Then again can I really treat this world like a game just because I have this game system? (Cain)

He looked back to the dragons eyes and knew that this was a living thing just like Cain, one that was as, or more intelligent then Cain.

Cain had never killed before and he wasn't sure if he should start now, even if this was another world.

He sighed and scratched his head, this caused the dragon to growl.

I just can't kill something like this.... the dragon is trying to survive just like me. Then again can I survive if I don't kill? (Cain)

Cain looked back at the dragon one last time. Seeing the pain it was in and the fear in its eyes he sighed once more in defeat.

"I don't have to kill everything I come across." (Cain)

He put his homemade spear and knife back in his inventory now that they were not needed.

He needed to get a better look at the dragons wound, to do that though he would need the dragons trust.

"Listen... I'm just going to look at your wound." (Cain)

He knew the dragon wouldn't be able to know what he was saying but maybe if he seemed and sounded calm and soothing then the dragon would see he was there to help.

With his hands raised shoulder height, he slowly approached the dragon.

Sheesh it's been a long time since the last update. I don't know if redoing all these chapters was a good idea but I felt like I needed to make some parts of it less cringey and make more sense story wise. Also I'm not sure but for a while now I haven't been able to reply to comments, not sure if it's wattpad or me but if you want a reply or anything just send me a direct message. ^^ thanks for reading if you are still following the story haha
