He had intended to gain his attention but it turned into a whole mess. He didn't even achieve his goal instead it seemed to do the opposite. As the creature ate the burned meat while crying.
I guess I should have expected that? I mean I was hungry and injured just the same. (Dragon)
The dragon waited for him to finish his ruined meal and when he was done Cain finally turned his full attention to the dragon.
Cain had a stern look on his face, at least, that's what he intended it to be but let's be honest, it was more of a pout.
The dragon was amused at his reaction but kept a calm, cool and collected attitude.
How do I start this off.... (Dragon)
The dragon had grown quite interested in this guy and wanted to be able to hold a conversation. He was not sure if it was possible but he wanted to attempt to teach him Dragonic.
I guess this will be a test to see if we can come to an understanding (Dragon)
Lifting his huge claw the dragon pointed to the dying fire.
Cain's attention followed and he was now staring at the fire.
What's this dragon want? Is he hungry already? (Cain)
As he was thinking that the dragon opened his mouth full of blade-like teeth and made a growling sound. This one seemed slightly higher pitched then the others he had heard so far.
The dragon stared at Cain intensely and kept making the same noise over and over again, keeping his claw pointed at the fire.
After Cain tilted his head to the side in confusion it finally dawned on him.
Is the dragon trying to tell me a word in his language? (Cain)
He looked back at the fire then to the dragon.
"Uh..." (Cain)
Cain was flustered, he knew what the dragon wanted him to do but he had never.... growled... before.
He also knew for a fact his growling would be completely different to the dragons.
Would I even be saying the right thing? (Cain)
Cain took a deep breath and stopped his worrying.
This was his chance to learn another language, he would have to learn the language this world humans used anyways.
This will be a test to see if I can even learn another language.... alright let's do this. (Cain)
—————
After a while of pointing and saying the word it seemed as though he got through to him. The small thing attempted to make the same sound, failing miserably.
Hm hm of course it will be hard for him to make the same sound as a dragon, however I can work with this. (Dragon)
The dragon was pleased and started to teach him until the sun was about to set.
They had gone through plenty of words but nothing else, just a random word won't allow them to communicate. So he raised his hand to the dragon, a signal the dragon knew, he wanted to stop for the day.
The dragon snorted as a reply and rested his head on his front legs. His eyes watching him.
—————
After hours of practice he only knew random words, most of them he probably wasn't even saying correctly.
They were things to do with the forest, like trees, fire, and dirt.
Still he was excited to continue learning. However he was thirsty and needed to properly take care of his wound.
After having the dragon show him the direction of water he went on his way.
It ended up being a small pond, little streams coming and going through it, keeping the water clean and clear.
He kneeled down and stared into the calm water, it was the first time he had a good look at his new self.
What stared back at him was a wide-eyed, long eared, handsome elf. He had Snow White hair and light blue eyes he had a more squared face then other elves he had seen, at least the fake ones in his world. Most of the time they were depicted as graceful and long in most aspects from their hair to limbs.
"Hmm..." (Cain)
I wasn't able to pick gender or my looks... the goddess did say the game system was a way to interpret this world... that means it isn't actually a game world like I was thinking? (Cain)
Having those thoughts in his head he ripped off his already tattered shirt.
"Great my shirt is destroyed and I don't have a replacement." (Cain)
He drank some of the water and tested the temperature, it was chilly but not unbearably cold, so he got in.
Not wanting to waste the cloth he washed the torn shirt along with himself. When he was washing himself he noticed his muscles seemed more toned then before.
"Did I get some stats from the fight with the orcs? I did have a hard time dodging..." (Cain)
He opened his status and looked at his stats.
............
They were all still sitting at one.
"What? That's not accurate either! I even have a passive that increases my experience right?!" (Cain)
He quickly checked his abilities and what they do.
[hero] increases experience gained
Isn't this why my muscles got more toned? And so if you were to transfer that to the game system that would be strength or agility... (Cain)
Cain frowned and decided he didn't want to use this system anymore, it was just inaccurate.
There was no setting tab or anything so he just tried to think it away.
"Whoa!" (Cain)
After trying to turn it off by thinking, it was suddenly gone and in its place he was overwhelmed with information.
Feeling nauseous he was glad he was still waist deep in water.
After turning off the game system all the knowledge of his skills and abilities were suddenly forced into his head, instead of being able to see and read what they all did, he instinctively knew what they did.
At first it was overwhelming but after he got used to it he realized how much better this was, He knew all his abilities through and through.
He grinned like an idiot.
"What the hell, this is so much better then that system thing." (Cain)
Now he was certain that the reason his muscles were more toned was because of his passive the [hero] the only thing he wasn't sure about was why the game system didn't register his added strength.
He shrugged and continued to clean himself, making sure to gently rinse his arm.
He got out of the water and hung up the sad rag that used to be a shirt on a nearby tree branch
He decided to wash his other clothes as well, hanging them up along with his torn shirt.
He tried to ring out as much water as he could since it was almost dark at this point. He decided to take a nap until his clothes were dried, his arm was still injured but he knew that the medical plants the dragon had chewed and put on him were still working for him, thanks to him getting rid of the game system.
"I'll just wrap my arm up for the night and find some herbs in the morning..." (Cain)
—————
The dragon growled quietly in annoyance.
He has been gone for a while.... if I leave though, all the animals that have returned to the forest will leave again. (Dragon)
He sighed and closed his eyes once again, not wanting to scare away any potential food.
