Sixteen years ago
Hayley walked through the busy streets of New Orleans. Her hair blowing wildly in the wind as she desperately tried to worm her way through the festival crowds. It was a blood moon that evening, Hayley knew that meant witches powers would be heightened to an almost unstoppable level. That was partly why she was out right now and not back at the compound, fortifying it for tonight. She had collected supplies for Freya, things she needed for protection spells and enchantments. The Mikaelsons has many enemies, they knew that most of them would take this opportunity to attack, so they had to be prepared.
Hayley bumped into a man, nearly sending him flying. She muttered an apology and made her move to go. A hand grabbed her arm and pulled her into a side alley, His grip on her tightening the further away from the crowds they got. Hayley growled, her eyes glinting yellow with black veins beneath her eyes.
"What do you want? Let me go right this instant!" Hayley tried to pull free of the mans grasp but to no avail. He just watched her struggle a grin plastered across his face.
"Or you'll do what? Call the originals to come and kill me? I don't think so mi amor not after what I can offer you." Hayley stopped struggling and looked the man in the eyes.
"What could someone like you offer me?" Hayley snapped at the man. His grip still tightening on her arm. His nails starting to dig into her skin, drawing blood.
"You should have learned by now that witches can offer many kinds of miracles, bend the laws of nature if they wish. Your family of vampires you care so dearly about are a miracle in their own right. One created by their mother, the witch Ester." The man smiled at the look on Hayley's face, he had her attention.
"What sort of miracle are you suggesting?" Hayley asked curiously, as she stopped struggling against the man.
"One that would break the rules that Ester once stood by, using the blood moon to fuel its power, breaking the laws of the supernatural to create a being thought impossible."
"Tell me what it is!" Hayley growled again, frustrated at the mans incompetence. She didn't have time for this, she needed to get back to the compound before dark and she could already feel the warmth of the sun setting.
"A child, born of a hybrid and a vampire." The man looked at her a mad glint in his eye. "It's power would be greater than the world has ever seen, its magic pulled from the power of two undead parents, it would be unstoppable."
Hayley looked at the man with wide eyes, his words slowly sinking in. She could have the one thing she never could with Elijah, a child, of their own flesh and blood. Hayley blinked to stop the tears from falling in front of this man. She looked at him curiously.
"And what do you get out of this?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow, unsure of the motives behind this mans actions.
"The child will bring balance to the supernatural, it will be a strong weapon in any fight. A witches purpose is to always bring balance, with this child in our world, balance will be restored. What more could I ask for?" The man looked at her smiling sweetly. Hayley didn't trust the look in his eyes, but her judgement was clouded by the promise he gave her.
"Okay," Hayley spoke shaking her head. "I can't believe I'm saying this but let's do this. Is there anything you need or?"
"No," The man grinned. "I'm all prepared."
*********
Hayley walked into the courtyard, closely followed by the man. She stopped as she was suddenly surrounded by the threatening glares of the Mikaelsons, encasing them in tight circle. Hayley huffed and looked to Klaus.
"Klaus, please stand down, he's here for a reason." Hayley glared at him for a moment before he finally sighed and gave in.
"Fine, but tell me now, what is he here for? Or did you just randomly decide to let strangers have access to our home?" Klaus snapped raising his hands in theatrics. Hayley rolled her eyes at him, always a fan of the dramatics.
"He can offer us something and I want to take it." Hayley looked to Elijah, who was still uncertain about the stranger who stood before him. "He can offer us a child Elijah," Hayley smiled pleadingly at him. "He says he can use the blood moons power and channel it to temporally remove the infertility curse of vampires." Hayley looked around at the frowning faces of his siblings. "Please give me this, its what I've wanted for as long as I can remember, a child with the man that I love." Klaus looked down at that.
"But what of Hope?" He frowned, "Was she not enough?" Hayley's eyes widened in hurt.
"Of course not! I love our daughter. But why rid her of the chance of growing up with siblings, rid her of the bond you all cherish so dearly. Please, Klaus, allow our daughter this privilege." Hayley begged, her eyes alight with the hope of another child, they could all see it, but none more than Elijah.
"Of course." Elijah whispered, he lifted his head to look Hayley in the eyes. "Of course I want a child with you, it is all I have ever wanted, a child to call my own." Elijah looked to the man. "Do it, do whatever you have to, but if I find that whatever you do hurts my wife in any way. Be warned, I will not hesitate to kill you and those you care for." Elijah looked at the man coldly, the man nodded in reply, the message was clear.
The man walked to the centre of the room and took out a small purple vile, he sprinkled the dark dust in a circle on the floor. He looked up at Hayley. "Before we start, I have yet to tell you my name." The man smiled as Hayley and Elijah stepped into the circle.
"Carlos"
And the circle went up in flames.
