Carl Grimes is on his own. He lost everything and everyone close to him.
Blake Miller lives in a community. His mother is the leader and she'll do anything to protect her son.
Carl feels alone in the world and Blake feels like he's trapped behind...
I stayed kneeling on the ground in shock. I couldn't believe it. After all this time I assumed he was dead. And now seeing him, standing there, alive. I didn't know how to feel. All I know is that I felt sick to my stomach.
"Let them go." Peter, or Winston as he was now being called, told them.
As soon as the guns were away from our heads, I watched Blake get up and run over and hug his father.
"I thought you were dead." Blake said through his sobs.
"I did too." Peter told him.
He pulled away from Blake before walking over and crouching down in front of me. He wraps his arms around me. I looked over at Blake who was watching us and I put on a smile before hugging him back.
"We can take them back to Augusta with us." Peter told his people as he got up.
"You don't have to do that." I tell him. "We actually have our own group to get back to."
"What if you come back with us just for a little while?" He suggested. "We can even give you some supplies to take back to your group. Plus, it would be nice to spend some time with my wife and son."
"Can we, mom?" Blake asked.
The way he asked me reminded me of the way he used to ask me for stuff when he was kid. And as much as I wanted to say, I couldn't.
"Ok." I tell him. "We can go."
Blake hugged me after I said that before he gets in the car with his dad while Amy gets in the car with me. Then we followed behind them towards Augusta.
We stopped as we approach these huge metal gates surrounding these huge metal walls, much bigger than the ones we have at Cliff House. The metal gates slowly opened and we followed them inside. By the looks of things it seemed like the walls were surrounding a few blocks. We stopped when we got to this big house in the center of town.
"This is my place." Peter told us. "Feel free to look around."
We followed Peter into his house. This place was so big it looked like a mansion. It even had a huge chandelier hanging in the middle of the Fourier. As I was looking around I couldn't believe how big this place was. After we all looked around his house we met back outside where there was a woman holding a few bags.
"Here are the supplies I promised." Peter said.
We take the supplies from the woman and start to load them up in the car.
"Maybe you can come and stay at Cliff House with us?" Blake asked Peter.
"I wish I could, but I'm the leader of this place and I can't just abandon these people." He told him. "But just know that you're welcome to come back here anytime."
Blake hugged his father before he walked back inside his house. That's when I realized that I needed to talk to him alone, and this was the best opportunity to do it.
"Blake, why don't you and Amy drive back to Cliff House." I tell him as I hand him the keys to the car.
"What are you gonna do?" He asked me.
"I just need to talk to your father for a while." I tell him. "Then he can give me a ride back."
He nods as he takes the keys from me. I watch as they drive out of Augusta before turning around and going back into Peter's house. When I walked into his Fourier I found him talking with two men.
"What are you still doing here?" He asked me.
"I wanted to talk to you." I tell him glancing at his men. "Alone."
With a wave of his hand, the two men walked out of the house, leaving Peter and I alone.
"What did you want to talk about?" He asked me taking a seat.
"A couple things actually." I told him as I sit across from him. "So Peter, or should I call you Winston?"
"I go by Winston now." He tells me. "For obvious reasons."
"Which answers my next question." I tell him. "No one here knows about what you did."
"Exactly." He told me. "And judging by how excited Blake was to see me, I'm guessing you didn't tell him either."
"I didn't tell him because I thought his father was dead and I wanted him to think his father was a good person." I tell him. "But now that you're alive, you're going to tell him."
He chuckles.
"And why the hell would I do that?" He asked me.
"Because if you don't, I will." I tell him. "And I don't think he'll be excited to see you anymore."
"Are you blackmailing me?" He asked.
"Yes." I tell him.
"Look, you know I love Blake, but let's be honest, he's not the toughest person around." He said.
"He's not the same person he used to be." I tell him. "He's done a lot of dark things. And I know for a fact that if I have to tell him the truth about what you did, he will kill you."
"I'm not scared of him and I'm sure as hell not scared of you." He told me.
"You should be." I tell him getting up walking right in front of him. "Because you have no idea what we're capable of."
"And you have no idea what I'm capable of." He told me standing up.
The two of us glared at each other in the eyes standing inches away from one another. It wasn't until he smiled.
"Guards!" He yelled.
As soon as he yelled that the two men that he was talking to earlier came in and started grabbing me. I tried to fight back, but they were too strong.
"Lock her away." He ordered as the guards started dragging me away.
"You can lock me up, you can kill me for all I care!" I started yelling as I was being dragged away. "But this isn't the end! People will learn the truth and then they will kill you!"
"We'll see about that." I heard him say before being dragged out of the room.
Eventually they ended up throwing me into a dark room. I tried to break down the door to get out, but it wouldn't work. After a while I gave up and fell to the ground. I knew there wasn't anything else I could do, all I could do was wait for Blake to figure out what kind of person his father really is.
