Rachel's POV
"So, what did he do?" Ella asked.
"It was a long time ago." I started. "Before the apocalypse."
"Again?" I complained on the phone to my husband.
"I'm sorry." He told me over the phone. "But I know I'm getting close, I just need to spend a few more late nights."
"Blake misses you." I told him. "He's been waiting for you to come home."
"I'm sorry, but I really got to keep working on this." He said.
"Ok, I lo..." I stopped when I realized he hung up.
I hung up the phone before walking to Blake's room. I notice the door is opened a crack and when I look in I see him sitting up in his bed awake. I walk in and sit on the end of his bed.
"Is daddy home?" My 6 year old son asked me.
"I'm sorry honey, but he has to work late." When I told him that I watched his smile drop into a frown.
"He's always working." He pouted.
"I wish he was here too." I told him as I kiss his forehead.
"Can you sing to me?" Blake asked me with puppy dog eyes.
I smiled at him before I started singing to him.
'I've never felt this strong
I'm invincible, how could this go wrong
No, here, here's where we belong
I see a road ahead
I never thought I would dare to tread
Like an image passing by
My love, my life
In the mirror of your eyes
My love, my life
I can see it all so clearly
All I love so dearly
Images passing by
Like reflections of your mind
My love, my life
Are the words I try to find
My love, my life
But I know I don't possess you
