School flies by and before we know it is a week off for the towns autumn festival. The air has been getting cooler but nothing major. I am helping Justin cut pumpkins when Anna and Spencer pull into our driveway. Since that night at his house Spencer and I have been getting on well and we have even had another sleep over when we were partnered for a project. We haven't ventured deeper than that, but I am okay with that and he hasn't done any more sneaking to my knowledge so it seems he is fine with it too.

"Ready for some amazing rides?" Anna asks skipping up to the porch. "We are going to pick Audrey up on the way but otherwise a straight line to the fair. " I smile up at them as I finish cutting a lopsided smile into the pumpkin.

"Cammy, you did it all wrrong!" Justin protests to which the other two laugh at.

"No I didn't," I tell the four year old "Your eyes are wrong."

"Wow," Spencer says with an easy smile "Good come back." I roll my eyes as Millie comes onto the porch.

"Oh goodie you guys are here, please take Cameron before he butchers all the pumpkins," The other two find this hilarious. I don't" yes, ma'am." Spencer solutes jumping up from the seat. I sigh before handing her the pumpkin cutter and heading inside to fetch my wallet and change my t-shirt from a plain black one to a button up denim shirt that  fits snug from all the extra muscles I have gained from all the farm work I do.

"Alright I am ready." I say stepping out onto the porch steps. I pretend not to notice Spencer checking me out because in all honesty I am not sure I am ready for anything more than friendship at the moment. I have never had a relationship, never had the time or motivation and so now when everything is still new to me I am unsure I could handle it. Along with the choice whether to stay or not. "We going or what?" I ask kissing Justin's hair as my aunt waves me off with a 'have fun'. A phrase I am only getting used to.

I end up in passenger side with Spencer at the back because Anna says that I have longer legs which is true but he doesn't seem to happy with the idea of being put in the back. Audrey jumps into the seat next to him. Her usually bubbly personality present.

"You have balls wearing a dress to a fair." Anna comments and Audrey shrugs, declaring she doesn't like high rides "There is no way I am being the only one on the high rides!" Anna says hotly "What about you Cameron, you like high rides?"

I shrug, glancing out the window "I don't know I have never been to an amusement park before."

"What?!" She shouts and I glance over at her in shock, glad she still has her focus on the road.

I shrug "It isn't that big of a deal."

"Are you even American?" Audrey asks from the back and Anna nods along.

"I mean it is basically our culture." I snort at that, not prepared to see their reaction when they realise I haven't done most of the things considered mandatory in America. I mean I went to a movie with Mark and Justin a few weeks back and that was a first to me.

"I just never got there." I say shrugging it off as I meet Spencer' s eyes in the rearview mirror.

"You weren't missing out on much." He mutters with a soft, almost understanding grin and I start to get why he has everyone else wrapped around his fingers. He has a charm about him, a quiet comforting charm that seems to put you at ease and make you feel as if you matter. Being his friend sure is a whole lot better than him hating you. Despite Anna and Audrey's shocked looks he continues. " I mean the whole thing is getting drunk off sugar and carbs, spinning yourself around until you get sick and playing games that are impossible to win."

This gets everyone laughing as they realise the truth of his statement, taking the heat off me until we arrive at the fair. And despite what Spencer said I am impressed it looks huge, with lights flashing and giant rides but is what is most attractive is the laughter that filters through the screams of joy and happiness. It might be all of the previously mentioned things but a fair is like a mini community of laughter.
