There is banging, banging on my door. I groan, flipping over to switch the light on, the rooster isn't even up yet, it can't  even be six yet. Who would be banging on the door like an insane person.

"Cameron open up!" I start when I recognised the voice, followed by another. "Unless you are naked, then we are all appreciated-well most of us-if you didn't."

"Henry you are an idiot, open up!" Anna yells this time knocking instead of banging.

"I think he is asleep."Audrey says with a chuckle and I can almost see their looks of incredulous on the other side of the door as it goes silent.

"That is why I was banging!" Spencer's voice eventually says before he resumes his previous task. I groan, yanking myself up from my bed, even by my standards this is early. Yanking the door open I give my best annoyed glare, it is hard to maintain when there are three grinning faces and one embarrassed one on the other end.

"Did you break in?" I ask running a hand through my hair and down my face "I am sure that is illegal, like every where in the world."

"Aww, you aren't a morning person. how sweet." Anna says shoving past me. "Sweet digs."

"Thanks, what are you guys all doing here? At five in the morning?" I ask as they all perch on various surfaces in my room.

"Kidnapping you of course." Audrey giggles picking up a book on my bedside and nodding in approval. "You know for the whole bad boy thing you sure read a lot."

"I have never claimed the bad boy title."

"It is just your aura." Spencer says, speaking up for the first time from besides me "And all the black." I smile at him and he catches my eye smiling back.

"Gross you two, save it for the dance." Anna calls making a face and flopping down on my bed.

"I can't go to the dance, I am grounded remember?"

"Nope we got you a get out of jail free card from your aunt." Audrey says also picking up a book from my bedside table. "Managed to convince her to let you go to this once in a life time dance because I am adorable and everyone loves me."

"Spencer convinced your aunt." Anna says rolling her eyes. "Audrey just stood around nodding."

"It was an adorable nod." She concludes.

I am not sure where to look as my friends are all looking positively giddy. "When? she told me yesterday that everyone was calling and she still said no."

"She said yes on Wednesday," Spencer says heading over to my closest "But we convinced her to let it be a surprise."

"Wow." Is all I manage to say as he pulls out a suit my aunt bought me two weeks ago.

"We are going to have so much fun!" Audrey squealed. And I couldn't help but agree.

"The committee has really done a good job!" Anna says as we enter the event, the theme is a Summer night and everything is donned in gold and red with big flowers and hanging pom poms. You can almost feel the energy. It really is one of the most magneficent events I have ever attended. In fact the first. My suit fits just right and it feels nice to be dressed up along with everyone. We had a blast of a day getting ready and everyone looks spectacular.

Henry takes Anna to the dance floor and I smile watching her spin and twirl with pink cheeks.

"So cute." Audrey squeals and I smile, offering her my hand which she accepts as we take a spin around the floor. We all take turns dancing together and dancing with each other, I do not get to slow dance with Spencer like I want to because he hasn't come out to the school and I am not sure he would appreciate it. But I am extra aware of him the whole evening. Watching as he laughs and dances and smiles, smiles enough to light up the whole room. My heart clenches as I pause in my dancing.

"I am going to get some air!" I shout over the music before slipping outside to the garden, finding a cool bench and sitting down. It is cold out here but I like it after the last two hours I spent dancing in a warm gym. I glance up, smiling at the stars, they are beautiful and you can see them so clearly here. I sigh, if all I get is a few moments I will gladly take them. My life is uncertain as anyone's but I know that the time I spent in this town will forever be engrained in my heart. The people that I have formed bonds with in such a short time will forever remain in my soul. I find tears forming in my eyes as I glance around the cold court yard. Can I love this much? Can I let myself be loved this much? What if everything crumbles and my heart shatters. I don't think I will be able to pick up the pieces.

"Cameron!" I blink away the tears focusing my gaze on Audrey on the other side of the court yard "You okay?" I nod and she grins "While then come on! They are announcing the homecoming king and queen."

I smile, wiping under my eye before following her inside for some more cliche highschool moments.
