Burning Ice

Prologue-Fire

AN: Hi everyone, so this is a first for me. Hope you all like it and I appreciate any comments and feedback (please there is no reason to be shy) so I can improve, "Burning Ice". :) Also I edited the prologue a bit so let me know what you think below ;)

Raven POV

When I grew up I've been living on an island to the east of Canada. Though you might not call it an island see it was quite big and nobody lived there unless they wanted peace and were great swimmers. My mom and dad loved each other and it was them against the world. After moving here the weather they said was always raining and pouring. In the winter it was cold and bitter.The Atlantic currents have always been said to be rough was the island's excuse.  My brother Kai told me sometimes they would cancel school because of all the chaos. But it also had some moments in the summer. It was seldom though. Then my mother was pregnant with me. They named me Raven but there always teasing me about naming me Sunny or after a sun goddess because around after I was born the sun started making it's appearance. The island of Okishima became a mini Canada, the island became more populated.

When I was younger, I learned Okishima had a legend. It was very old but my brother Kai told me on my 5th birthday when I was able to understand. Why was it bought up? Because I was curious why they had named a place like Canada, Okishima.

"Okishima isn't interested in joining Canada. Perhaps its the history they believe in.. magic."

"Magic?"

"Ya, they believed that a wizard was on the island once."

"A wizard?"

"Ya, he is believed to falled for a girl.The girl was in love but she was always upset and angry so the wizard created another her and another and another until their were four."

"It's never been understood why the wizard did so but we think its based on the four elements."

"Water? Fire?"

"Earth and air."

"Kai stop telling her an old fairy tale" My dad came in and smiled at us both. "But to the point Kai, Okishima meaning and represents battle royale, that's not important though remember education is power so do well in school and leave the stories for later."

That was the fairy tale that I never got to finish, understand what happened. But I made one thing clear that day, if I were them I would never want to be...

Fire.

1 Year Before

Unknown P.O.V.

The wind whistles and I know it's selfish, to create a beast of something light and beautiful. Something only I can enjoy. Spinning in the realm of reality I just want to feel the burning sensation of life I can only feel in the wind. Life is a path of roses they say. Bitter and sweet.

"You should go, Krystal it’s time to make things right." A famillar voice snapped me out of my tranquility. "At midnight things will become messy, she will lose control... Krystal you must find her so we can be balanced and the curse will be at ease."

Of course, the curse I thought grimly.

When I was 5 I learned self-control and I mastered the spiritual mind. I was very independent and I seldomly needed anyone's help. I guess that's why my teachers felt the need to move me to a different school. A school where my talents could be put to better use. I always thought I was lucky, and till this day I still think I'm lucky. I'm at peace. Never fight. The students here I couldn't ask for anything better, they are more my kind.

Then when I was 15 I begin feeling a presence. I became scared in that sense so I ran, and ran my sense told me I must run. And run I did, not knowing where I slammed into a rock. A rock of friendship and a opened door. June. That was when we first met, and it was like I was seeing a side of me I never thought of before. Through our years eventually we grew closer but I knew there was more. June and I had powers. Something we could call magic. I felt like an airbender. But what was strange was June could hear through the earth. I was quiet, calm and collected. She was confident, touch and strong. We were opposites in a sense that we couldn't understand why we were together, and the best of friends. Two became one. We learned many different qualities together and now being 17 I can hear the wind and use it to my advantage. But at times when our powers become out of control we become each other's worst enemies. We call it the, "the curse." As a result we use an amulet made from the substance representing us to prevent our accidents. But 6 months ago I realized there were more. Keira was one of them. Through months alone June had trained her but... without someone that can control her side...especially when she's out of control. I snap myself out of such thoughts.

"Such big words of wisdom June, yet so little courage." I reply. Her voice is something different, something very uneasy. "I've known you longer then I can remember, tell me-"

"Well, well!"

"Keira, what brings you here?" June answered. We were both surprised, the entrance was impossible for her to enter. Her with her limited skills. June is right, Keira has grown strong in strength. The balance has shifted. My thought's blew into my face once more. We are different. Different is good but dangerous. People will fear us and turn against us. Without Keira's opposite she will only attract more fear.

June turns to me with the same expression as earlier. I nod. It was a mistake to find one and not the other, I knew that now. I use my meditation and calm myself down. In a flash I feel the calmness of the morning.

An icy arrow pierced through the air towards me my eyes immediately open and my amulet glows. Earth shoots out of the air and blocks the ice from me. I tuck my body and twirl in swift, rapid motions until I vanish from sight.

In my mind I must find her, a strong physical fighter.

Like Fire...
