"No, Rex! No!" You shouted as your chocolate Labrador took off from you. You'd taken him for a run this evening to get some energy out of both of you, but it seemed he still had plenty in his system. You'd stopped to let him off the leash, intending to let him into the creek by the park, but the turd had run the opposite direction, which wasn't like him, really. Usually, he was great at listening to you.

You saw him run around the park pavilion and took off after him. Rounding the corner, you found that your generally well-behaved dog was now in the middle of a bunch of bikers, begging for food from one of them. You jogged closer and they all looked up as you did.

The one that Rex was pestering had darker, curly hair and a goatee. His eyes were covered by sunglasses, but you would have bet your next month's salary that he was taking stock of your running gear - comprised of spandex pants and a sports bra, with a loose tank with slit sides covering it. You continued to approach slowly, not wanting Rex to bolt again, and spoke.

"I'm sorry, guys." You said. "He must have smelled your dinner." You explained as you noted the burger in the one man's hands.

As you got closer, Rex looked to you and lowered his head. "Yeah, buddy. You're in deep shit. You know better than to run off." You said quietly to him and he lowered his head more and thumped his tail a bit. "Nope." You said. "You're not going to adorable your way out of this one." You said as you clipped the leash onto his collar. Throughout this, the bikers around you hadn't spoken. You swallowed a little, slightly nervous, and then moved to pull Rex with you. "Sorry again," you called over your shoulder as you started to walk Rex away.

"Hey, doll!" A man called out and you turned to see that the one who Rex had been in front of was off his motorcycle and approaching you. You stopped, confused by what he'd want. He tore off a piece of his burger and reached it out to Rex, who scarfed it without tasting it, you were sure. You smiled at the man, amusement twisting your lips.

"You've just made a friend for life. He loves burgers." You said and the man nodded and crouched down to give Rex another bite, running his hands over his ears as he did.

"What's his name?" He asked.

"Rex," you answered, noting with only slight disapproval that Rex was now laying on his back, belly to the man to get pets. Glutton. The man grinned at Rex and continued to give him pets as he looked up at you.

"And yours?" He asked and you told him. He repeated it quietly and took off his sunglasses in the fading light, showing the most striking blue eyes you'd ever seen.

"I'm Tig." He said and you smiled with a nod.

"Nice to meet you, Tig." You said as he stood up, closer than he was before.

"You think you'd give me your number, doll?" He asked and you were surprised, but pleased, and you nodded. You held out your hand for his phone and he handed it to you. After you'd entered it, you smiled.

"I should get Rex home." You said and Tig nodded and looked around.

"Is it close by?" He asked and you tilted your head to the complex just a block or so down the road.

"It's over there." You told him and he nodded.

"Then I'll walk you, make sure you get there alright." He offered and you gave a slight nod. Turning in the direction of your place, you walked with Tig and Rex in the growing darkness, thinking that it had been a good thing you'd both needed to get some energy out tonight.
