Quotes for the chapter

"Oh, yes, the past can hurt. But, the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it." -Rafiki, Lion King.

"It does not matter how the future is gonna be, but I'm never gonna stop loving you. Everything is better with you in my life."

I love this song, Rachael thought. It's so upbeat.

"Hey," Alana Knight, one of my best friends said. "How're you doing after...you know..."

"Hospitalization," I finished for her. "Good, real good. How are you doing?"

"Radiant. Xavier Hinds asked me out."

"Really? That's so awesome! When?"

"Just last night. It was a phone call. But, whatever, it was still sweet."

"Maybe we can double date sometime. You know, you and Xavier and Robert and I."

"Fantastic idea! Saturday?"

"Yes. I'll text Xavier and let him know."

"Great, I can't wait."

"I'm glad you're doing better. Hang in there. I've got to go, though, I'm sorry. Soccer practice in an hour."

"Of course, good luck. Goodbye."

"See ya around."

After Alana left, I sat on an bench, thinking of what to do with myself, when Robert came up to me.

"Hey," Robert greeted. "How're you?"

"Good. And you?"

"Great. Alana texted me."

"Alana texted you?"

"Yeah, is that a problem?"

"N-no, no problem at all."

"You seem irate, what's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"

"Well--" I interrupted for a moment, carefully choosing my words. "Just tell me when you get another girl's number, okay? I don't want anyone stealing you away from me."

"Deal. So, what's up with Steven? Is he back at your house now?"

"Yes, he's back home. He's good, doing well in school."

"That's good to hear. How's your dad?"

"He survived, thank goodness. I'm thanking Him every day for that miracle."

"That's very relieving to hear. I'm very glad he's doing better."

"Ooh, look." I pointed to a picture on Google Images that I found adorable.

"Awe, sweet. Ooh, here's another one." Robert pointed to another image:

"So us, right?" I asked.

"We are that. Remember, that time when we wanted to break up due to you being in the hospital?"

"Yes, all too well."

"I'm glad we didn't, because then, I wouldn't be the best girlfriend in the world."

"Awe."

Robert then kissed me on the head. "Together forever, right?"

"Together forever."

I've decided to do cognitive behavioral therapy. It's the only way to free myself from depression.

"Hi, Ms. Daisy."

"Hi, Rachael, come on in. How are you feeling?"

"Broken still. I'm trying to make this feeling go away, but it just won't."

"Have you tried exercising?"

"Yes."

"Going outside?"

"Yes."

"Hm...Who's your primary care physician?"

"Dr. Arnold.

"Maybe he can prescribe some Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, also known as SSRI's."

"I'll try. I'll go soon, next week."

"Good. Time's up, I'm afraid."

"See you next week."

"See you next week. And remember: you're a strong woman and will have the strength to defeat this sadness. Look how far you've come: six months ago, you were in the hospital, and now look at you. I have faith in you, and so does your family. Keep talking to them, lean on them for support."

"I will, Ms. Daisy."

A/N-I introduced three new characters: Alana Knight, Xavier Hinds, & Ms. Daisy. I updated a day early because I have to do something tomorrow that's going to take all day, but, updates'll be every weekend--or more often because I have no school on Tuesdays & Thursdays during my final semester at my community college.

What do you think of the story so far? Is it better than the first book?

I'll try to update next Saturday (or Sunday). My update schedule for this book will be the weekends. If you have any covers/banners you want to send me, please PM me on here. Thank you so much for the support on Road to Recovery! It really means a lot!
