"Dad, is something wrong?" I asked.
"No, I just miss..." Dad trailed off.
"Mom?" I finished for him.
"Yes." He buried his face in his hands.
"Come, I think we need to take a little walk to Saint Matthew's. Father's really nice. I've been going there and he's been helping me."
"I'll go."
We went to Saint Matthew's.
"Hello, Father, this is my Dad," I greeted Father. "Dad, this is Father."
"Pleasure to meet you, Father, I'm grateful for what you did with Rachael."
"It's been my pleasure," Father said, "She's an intelligent person."
"Thank you."
As Father and Dad talked, I prayed.
Thank You, God, for letting us in. I plan on getting baptized. I need my mother back. I miss her so. Her laugh, her hugs, her warmth, her smile. I need a mother. Please, God, let me have a mother. Amen.
I stood up, and stood by the cross where Jesus was, His hands outstretched. I said another prayer:
Please, Lord, let everyone in my family be alright. I will praise You and Your Son until my death. I know that You and Your Son will watch over us. Please protect and guide us through a difficult time. Amen.
"Rachael, come," Dad said as he finished talking with Father. "let's go home."
"Yes, Dad."
