AS WE ENTER the cockpit of the beast, I see Lance already sitting in the - well, what I'm assuming to be - pilot's chair. The array of controls around him look similar to the force field, like they're holographs. I stare at the inside of the lion in amazement. It looks incredibly advanced and I feel like I've stepped foot into sometime in the distant future. The front of the lion's head suddenly dissolves from pentagons to a vision of the cave we were just in. We're seeing from the lion's eyes. Lance laughs as Pidge and Hunk gape in amazement.

"All right! Very nice," Lance approves joyfully.

"Okay, guys, I-I feel the need to point out, just so we're all aware," Hunk starts. "We are in some kind of futuristic alien cat head right now."

Lance suddenly snaps his gaze straight ahead for a few seconds, then turns back to us wide-eyed. "Whoa. Did you guys hear that?"

"No . . ." I trail off.

"Hear what?" Keith questions.

"I-I think it's talking to me," Lance stutters, and I raise an eyebrow.

"Sure you didn't hit your head on the way down?" I ask, and Lance rolls his eyes again.

"I'm sure. Hmm . . . um . . ." he bends down, inspecting the holographic controls.

Tapping a few of the buttons, the lion shifts to a standing position, and I let out a yelp of surprise. The lion then roars, and I feel a twinge of fear poke at my gut. With a smirk on his face, Lance grips the handles.

"Okay. Got it. Now, let's try this," Lance smirks, and my eyes widen.

"Hey, wait a sec. You only pressed, like, three buttons, how could you possibly know how to fly this thi-" a scream rips from my throat as Lance shoots the lion forward, breaking through the rock formation.

Lance pilots the lion, stopping it before it smashes against the ground, as the screams of me, Pidge, and Hunk fill the cockpit. We suddenly shoot forward, and I would've flown backward had Shiro not grabbed my arm. I grip his arm tightly, my other hand holding onto Pidge in an attempt to not let him fly around either.

Keith manages to get out a sentence loud enough to be heard over the screaming. "You are the worst, pilot, ever!"

Lance then lets the lion hit the ground, and it begins to bound towards - well, I have no clue. It was a surprisingly smooth ride, while he bounded, considering I was in a mechanical blue lion.

"Isn't this awesome?" Lance exclaimed.

"Okay, you must have a different definition of awesome than I do," I groaned.

Hunk hunched forward as tears pierced his eyes. "Make it stop, make it stop."

Lance sounded way too excited. "I'm not making it do anything. It's like it's on autopilot."

Fear spiked within me as the lion shot upwards. It didn't seem like it planned on turning around, either.

"Where are you going?" Keith yelled.

"I just said it's on autopilot!" Lance said back. "It says there's an alien ship approaching Earth. I think we're supposed to stop it."

"This isn't scaring anyone?" I asked exasperatedly. "We're in some random robot lion thing and we don't know where it's taking us, other than towards an alien ship?"

"We'll be fine," Lance said. "It says we gotta get rid of this ship, and I trust it."

"And that's reassuring, how?" I questioned, and Lance groaned.
