|the heart of Voltron|
"PRINCESS, YOU MUST eat. It's been 10,000 years," Coran insists, pushing a plate of green goo towards her. I hold back a gag - it looks like something I made during recess in grade school.
Staying focused on the control panel, she continues typing away. "I'm not hungry."
"Man, 10,000 years?" Lance starts, and I brace myself for what's about to come out of his mouth. "That's like one thousand plus ten."
"That is, so wrong?" I say, chuckling at him.
"It's times ten," Keith corrects, and Lance scoffs.
"Whatever, dropout."
Hunk eyes the plate of goo, clutching his stomach. "I haven't eaten since breakfast and I'm starving."
"Yeah but you've thrown up, like, five times," Pidge says, glancing at him with a raised brow.
"Hmm, good point," Hunk hummed, beginning to shovel the goo into his mouth.
"I can't believe your civilization created such advanced technology 10,000 years ago," Shiro praised, as I tried to keep in the bubbling laughter threatening to burst out as I watched Hunk. "It must've been an incredible place."
Hunk's face after eating the goo was priceless - it obviously wasn't very appetizing. I almost cracked when he went for another bite, but I kept it together. He let out a groan as he swallowed.
"Yes, it was . . ." Coran said sadly. "but now it is gone and we're the last Alteans alive."
Coran walked over to Allura, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. She turned and hugged him, soft sobs filling the otherwise silent room. I stood, averting my gaze, and cursing the greedy part of me that wished I was comforting her. She paused, and began walking over to her pod.
"Um, didn't you just emerge from a 10,000 year sleep? I know this situation isn't ideal, but do you really wanna go back in there?" I ask, and she ignores me, bending down as a small smile makes its way onto her face.
"Looks like we're not the last after all," she grins, staring down at what looks like mice - only they're multicolored and seemingly human-like.
Space mice. So that's a thing.
The moment's interrupted by a loud alarm blaring, causing me to jump out of fright. The control panel is red, large text in a different language splayed across the screen. I can't read it, but I know that it probably isn't anything good. The screen suddenly displays a giant ship - like the one that attacked us while we were in the blue lion. But this time, I think it's even bigger. Dread fills my body as I feel the presence tense up.
If it's worried, then I know this thing isn't good.
"A Galra battleship has set its tracker to us!" Coran warns, and I gulp aloud.
Allura walks over with the mice occupying her hand. "How did they find us?"
"M-Maybe they can track Altean life or something?" I say, throwing an idea out.
"I'm not sure, but I bet it's Keith's fault," Lance supplies, and I roll my eyes.
Side-eyeing Lance, Keith shoots back. "Say whatever you've got to say to make yourself feel better. After getting us stuck on the other side of a wormhole!"
Getting close to Keith's face, Lance screams, "I'll stick you in a wormhole!"
"Wow, that cannot be straight," I mutter. "Like, that just radiated a gay aura."
